Hello there! I'm Kahla, and I'm reaching out to my community for support in transitioning into the new chapter of my life. Since graduating college during the pandemic, I've acquired an incredibly wonderful space in an apartment in Philadelphia. Here, I have been using my time for healing and researching non-stop how to live as sustainably as possible. From studying herbalism and my own family's genealogy, to completely re-shaping my diet and developing a very regular and helpful daily yoga practice-- I've been on my way to being a version of myself that can take on the world.
However, extreme racism and homophobia in the American workplace have proven too dangerous of an environment for me and my mental health. This hazardous environment is why I started my business, Haus of Khepera, in November of 2021, offering healing herbal tea blends and divination services. Since then, Haus of Khepera has now expanded to art as well.
Although, recently, a depressive episode crept up on me, and I could not function productively for a few weeks. This freeze, unfortunately, put me behind on rent and bills.
I'm hoping to receive support with catching up on my January rent ASAP, as well as bills, living expenses, and supplies (for art and herbal work) for the next few months until I get back onto my feet. I also fully intend to continue sharing my daily progress on social media and show where the donated funds are getting used within my life!

Today we’re featuring our “Herbal Smai Tawi” (ADHD and Focus Loose Leaf Tea)!

Smai Tawi is a Kemetic Yogic Discipline. In the last couple years more and more people are discovering they have ADHD. Capitalism, white supremacy and colonialism have subjugated us to calculated torture. Going to jobs we hate, barely scraping by financially and reverting to people pleasing behavior for emotional validation has left us physically, mentally and spiritually exhausted. As the consciousness rises even more people will start identifying with neurodivergent characteristics as it is the natural reaction to this failing system. Our minds are boundless, creative and require compassionate and logical discipline. You create this for yourself and your needs completely free from any expectations or previous programming. As you drink your tea, reflect on the following questions: What are three things I could do for myself daily that would make me feel good? Would a morning/night routine be helpful? How am I exercising my Mind, Body and Spirit Daily? This blend mixes more stimulating herbs such as Yerba Mate, Eleuthero (Siberian Ginseng), Rhodiola, Damiana with memory/mood stabilizing superherb Ginkgo that has been handpicked locally in Fishtown.

All of our tea blends are up on our Etsy! But they’re small batch blends so get them while you can! Today we’re featuring our “Flowing Sekhem”, breathing and lungs, loose-leaf tea!

Sekhem means Lifeforce in the Kemetic Language. Your Breath is your Lifeforce, Spirit and Soul. Keeping your lungs healthy and mucus free allows your Breath to harmoniously flow throughout the body. This blend is great for Asthmatics/Smokers and anyone who feels phlegmy. As your tea is covered and steeping in hot water for 5-7 mins try this breathing exercise: Breathe In through your nose allowing your lower stomach to expand then perce your lips like you are about to blow through a straw and slowly Breathe Out the remaining air. This practice is great for immediate stress relief and staying in the present.

I have really spent time making this project everything I wanted it to be and I am so proud to see it come to fruition. We also have a Patreon and will additionally be offering Tarot & Oracle readings through appointment via the “contact us” section of our website or DM on Instagram. November beckoned my partner .ki888 and I to forage! We got some stinging nettles and turkeytail and I meditated for guidance on a log in the forrest. Nature and I communicate. Being amongst the trees is sacred and holy. Me creating teas really is devoid of ego. I really want to help be a servant of Mother Earth, and help heal our collective wounds so we can love and be loved again. Plant medicine is the only way to heal. Finding inner strength and divinity is the only way to heal. I come to you sharing my story and offering any words of encouragement you might need. I love you all and I can’t wait to offer amazing healing teas and wisdom that I have been learning ✨☕️✨🧘🏾‍♀️✨🪲

I know it’s been a minute, but have no fear! Brand new tea blends are near✨I’ve been taking time to show up for myself, and rest because my mental health was a little rocky. But I’m back with a new refreshed sense of purpose, and so many new healthy, fresh, and ethically sourced ingredients ☕️ from our local apothecary 🪲Haus of Khepera 🪲will be having its (online) grand opening on November 11th (11/11) !There’s no better way to ring in a new venture than having the universe support me on the first day of making myself accessible for community healing 🧘🏾‍♀️
