The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) has officially launched monthly presentations across all LifeWorks locations! This week, students explored the incredible range of services OVR offers, from job training to career development and beyond.

This year’s theme is self-advocacy: empowering students to speak up, make informed decisions and take charge of their future.

Pretzel sales are back at all LifeWorks Schools! Each month, every LifeWorks campus will sell pretzels to support a meaningful cause. This year, 50% of all proceeds will benefit Manna on Main Street Kitchen and Market, helping to fight hunger and support community wellness.

Last year, we raised more than $300 and we’re excited to see how much we can accomplish together this year!

LifeWorks is proudly celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, a special time dedicated to honoring and recognizing the rich and diverse cultures, histories and significant contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities.

This serves as an opportunity to reflect on the vibrant traditions, artistic expressions and impactful achievements that have shaped our society, showcasing the invaluable role that these communities play in the fabric of our nation.

Our students enjoyed creating their own “10 Things About Me” profiles! This fun activity gave them the opportunity to highlight their individuality, share interesting facts and connect with classmates in a creative and meaningful way.

This week, we were thrilled to welcome families into LifeWorks for Back to School Night! It was a wonderful opportunity for parents and guardians to meet our teachers, explore our programs and see all the exciting things ahead for this school year. We look forward to building strong partnerships with our families to support every student’s success.

Today, our elementary students had a special opportunity to show their gratitude. In honor of September 11 and in recognition of Law Enforcement Su***de Prevention Day on September 26, Ms. G’s class created heartfelt thank-you notes for Media’s local police. A local officer visited the classroom to collect the notes, honoring and appreciating the vital work of our community’s first responders.

This week, in recognition of National Su***de Prevention Week, our school counselor led students in writing their own positive affirmations. Each student created encouraging statements to remind themselves of their strengths and resilience.

Our students at LifeWorks School at Media are exploring the world through a creative lens! Today, they engaged in observational art, using careful attention to detail and perspective to bring everyday objects to life on paper. Their focus and creativity shine through each piece.

LifeWorks welcomed back staff on August 21 to engage in four days of professional development. Presentations focused on transition curriculum, data-driven decision-making and special education best practices, among other topics. Students returned on August 27 and we were eager to begin another successful school year!

LifeWorks life skills classes took a trip to the local library. Students navigated the building, explored the resources the library had to offer, as well as looked at comics, played games and musical instruments. Learning how to access community resources helps build independence, confidence and a love for lifelong learning!

On July 22, representatives from the Bucks County Center for Independent Living gave a presentation on financial literacy to high school students in the Extended School Year program. The students discussed topics including identifying wants versus needs and budgeting for future expenses such as rent and tuition.

This presentation aimed to equip the students with the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed financial decisions as they prepare for their future.
