Let’s create s p a c e ✨daily life can make us feel cramped and tight. We move in the same habitual ways (staring hunched over at our phones!) and think habitual thoughts. Practicing yoga gives us an opportunity to create space within the body and in our mental landscape - connecting us to our spirit, the peaceful observer within 🙏

Join me for a 45 minute flow via zoom on Thursday at 5! This new offering gives us a little bit of everything - we start out with a flow and move into deeper holds of postures, followed by savasana and a guided meditation ✨ Venmo a donation in any amount to -Caramanico and put your email in the description so I can send you the link! We all need moments of rest throughout the day. We’ve always needed this, but it’s especially important when coping with the day to day during the pandemic.

How do you rest? And how has it changed? Finding moments of stillness for the mind and body helps. Unplugging/disconnecting from our little devices can work wonders. (Easier said than done when we all want to feel connected to each other and what’s happening in the works, I know 💛)

In yoga philosophy, sutra 1.2 says that “yoga is the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind” - which is getting past our thinking mind. 🧠 That calm mental state is deeply restful, grounding, a chance to connect deeply to yourself. So, how do we do it?

Take a mindful breath with your hand on your heart. Put your phone in the other room for 10 minutes. Take a moment to feel the connection of your feet to the ground beneath you. Notice how you spend your down time throughout the day and ask yourself - does this activity add to my mental clutter or does it help me clear my mind? Give yourself permission to take a break from habits that don’t give you the mental space you need.

And of course, practice yoga. On or off the mat ✨

Your mind, body and soul need rest.

In these chaotic times, I’m finding myself drawn to slowing down - and teaching yoga. Action in work and life is tempered by periods of rest. And it’s so needed! We are living in unchartered territory.

No one knows how to live through a pandemic and social crises like we’re living through now. We are all figuring it out as we go.

It’s ok not to feel ok. It’s ok to take a break. It’s vital to care for you.

This week’s offering will focus on the balance between movement and rest, and it will restore you 💛

I love this reminder from . Our culture tricks us into thinking that yoga is all about the physical body - it’s not. We move the body in our practice to get past the “monkey mind” in our brain (that constant stream of thinking) to connect to our deepest selves through meditation 🧘‍♀️ that is the true gold and goal of this practice.

Wherever you are in your journey, your yoga is yoga and it is beautiful 💛✨
