We are aware of the measles case in South Philadelphia at CHOP. The patient was exposed while traveling abroad and is not connected with the recent measles case identified in Montgomery County, or cases in other parts of the country. Check out the Philadelphia Department of Public Health notification for everything you need to know. At this time, we are NOT giving measles vaccines to babies under 12 months of age. See the guidance below.

The first dose of the MMR vaccine is given between 12 and 15 months of age and the second dose is given at age 4-6 years.
If your 1-4 year old child has already had their first dose of the vaccine, then they are appropriately immunized and another dose is not recommended at this time, unless they have exposure to or contact with a measles case.
If your 1 year old child has not yet had the MMR vaccine, then please call to schedule your child's check up and shots.
If your child is 6-11 months of age and has been exposed to measles. please call the office (but DO NOT COME IN).
If your child is 6-11 months of age and you plan to travel internationally soon, then please call the office to schedule an appointment for a travel counseling visit.
At this time, it is not recommended to give all babies 6-11 months old the MMR shot.
