We often think that OCD serves as our protector. We are constantly in survival mode and OCD loves to trick us into thinking it has all the answers on how to keep us safe. Ocd lies, and it is surely not the voice of reason!

This concept was so difficult for me to grasp during my learning journey with OCD.
How can my safety behaviors actually be making me worse?!
By practicing our compulsions, we train our amygdala that there is in fact danger.
We gain control by giving it up.

These were the first phrases I highlighted in the book. I related so much.

Going through life in recovery, thinking you have everything under control. Skills at hand, remembering all your past experiences and feeling relief knowing that OCD won’t be able to trick you again….. until it does.

Recently, I have been so drawn to learning more about perinatal and postpartum OCD. Very distressing themes at a very sensitive time in ones life. During my research, I came across a new book written by and I wanted to share some of the takeaways I found most helpful and important. I am officially on ! Everyone deserves access to affordable mental health care. That is exactly what Open Path is trying to do. They provide middle and lower income level clients with access to affordable mental health care.
If you think you could benefit from this, thousands of therapists who are accepting new clients at a low rate have open profiles on Open Paths website that you could go and browse. I think this is a great step for anyone who is hesitant about receiving care as this is cheap and could introduce you to what therapy is like.
Always feel free to DM me any questions or if you need help finding care where you are located!!!
