For years, Pam lived with stress urinary incontinence, leaking urine during everyday moments like laughing, coughing, or exercising. She thought it was just part of aging. But after a candid conversation with her gynecologist and a referral to urogynecologist Alex J. Soriano, MD at Doylestown Health, everything changed.

Pam underwent a quick, outpatient sling procedure and was back home the same day. “The difference was night and day,” she said. Now, she’s free to hike, jump, laugh, and live her life leak-free. http://spr.ly/61864Nx0I

When 56‑year‑old Dennis noticed a small red spot on his leg, he didn’t wait. He called his new P*P at Penn Medicine Doylestown Health. Moments later, he was being treated for necrotizing fasciitis, a life‑threatening bacterial infection.

Thanks to swift diagnosis by Soujanya Jammalamadaka, MD and the emergency team at Doylestown Hospital, plus urgent surgeries and coordinated care at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP), Dennis kept his leg and got back to the trails he loves. http://spr.ly/61884g3Vn

"Play this game from the lead. Get that colonoscopy." Philadelphia Flyers radio and podcast host Jason Myrtetus is currently undergoing treatment for stage 3 colon cancer.

His biggest takeaway from this experience so far? Getting the recommended screening at age 45 (or earlier, if advised by a doctor) is key to taking care of your health.

We’re so grateful to Nancy and Janice from the Woman’s Club of Indian Valley for their thoughtful donation of Jared Boxes to the Emergency Department at Penn Medicine Doylestown Hospital.

Each box is filled with toys, books, crayons, and stuffed animals—small treasures that bring big comfort. These gifts offer more than distraction; they provide a sense of normalcy, joy, and reassurance during what can be a scary time.

The Jared Box Project is a beautiful reminder that kindness and creativity can go hand in hand—and that a simple gesture can make a lasting impact.

Thank you, Nancy, Janice, and the Woman’s Club of Indian Valley, for helping us care for both the health and hearts of our youngest patients.

We’re excited to share that AInSights, an AI system developed by a team at Penn Medicine, won Healthcare Innovation’s 2025 Innovator Award for its significant clinical impact. This powerful tool helps providers diagnose diseases and create better treatment plans by giving more precise, 3D views of internal organs—automatically and seamlessly providing information at a volume that greatly improves staff workflows and patient outcomes. http://spr.ly/61894gMCx

Lauren Robinson was just weeks from her due date when a strange itch on her hands and feet sent her to the Doylestown Hospital Emergency Department. It turned out to be a sign of a rare liver condition called intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP)—a diagnosis that meant her baby needed to be delivered early.

The next day, Lauren and her husband welcomed Lucas, a healthy 7-pound baby who needed extra help breathing after birth. He was admitted to our Level II Intensive Care Nursery (ICN), where he received around-the-clock care from CHOP neonatologists and Penn Medicine Doylestown Health’s incredible NICU team.

From Kangaroo Care to AngelEye cameras that let Lauren and her family stay connected when they couldn’t be bedside, every step of Lucas’s journey was built on compassion, innovation, and family-centered care.

After 10 days in the ICN, Lucas came home. The Robinsons will never forget the team that helped make that possible.

“We love having Lucas home, but the care and compassion of our doctors and nurses will forever stay with us,” said Lauren. http://spr.ly/61884gMfE

Penn Medicine Doylestown Health’s commitment to the community begins with our youngest members. During the Week of the Young Child, the Children’s Village Early Childhood Education Center at Doylestown Hospital led a heartwarming food drive to benefit the New Britain Food Pantry.

This initiative wasn’t just about collecting food—it was about planting the seeds of compassion and service that characterize Doylestown Health. Through hands-on experiences like this, we’re nurturing a generation that understands the power of giving back.

Thank you to our families, staff, and the entire Doylestown Health community for supporting this meaningful cause. Together, we’re building a healthier, more connected future—starting with our children.

Luka Krizanac lost his hands to an infection at 12 years old. Now 29, he traveled from his home in Switzerland to receive a life-changing hand transplant from Dr. L. Scott Levin at Penn Medicine.

The complex surgery marked Penn’s fifth hand transplant, allowing Krizanac to perform everyday tasks like typing and eating, supported by ongoing physical therapy.

Eight years ago, just one year after he joined Doylestown Health, primary care physician assistant Dan Hemple enlisted in the Pennsylvania National Guard.

"I desired to give back to the country that has given so much to me," said Hemple, who feels both roles help him be a better version of himself.

Recently promoted to major, Hemple was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for the dedicated care he provided to American troops in Germany and Ukrainian soldiers pulled from the front lines.

🌈 LGBTQ+ individuals face unique health risks—and are often screened at lower rates for serious conditions like breast, colorectal, a**l, lung, and prostate cancer. These disparities can stem from a range of factors, including differences in access to care and cultural stigma.

📚 That’s why we’ll be at the Doylestown Pride Block Party this weekend—sharing free educational materials and answering questions about cancer screenings and preventive care to help everyone in our community access the information and care they need to stay healthy.

At Penn Medicine Doylestown Health, we’re honored to partner with organizations that bring light and comfort to those facing challenging times.

The Simple Gifts Project, led by President Krista Spadt, recently donated 100 smile bags and 50 teen bags to our hospital. Each bag is thoughtfully filled with items meant to lift spirits and offer a moment of joy to children who may end up in the care of our Emergency Department.

Founded on the belief that a small gesture can make a big difference, the Simple Gifts Project works with school groups, scout troops, youth organizations, and individuals to create and distribute these heartfelt care packages. Their mission is simple: to pass along a smile when it’s needed most.

We are deeply grateful to Krista and the Simple Gifts Project for their generosity and for reminding us that healing begins with compassion.
