Congratulations to this beautiful family of four, Mallory and Mike (June 2025 class) on the birth of their new baby girl 🐣!
Here is her story 💗:
“Exactly one week ago, on August 25th at 4:06am, we welcomed our second daughter—Calliope Skye—earthside. I can’t believe it’s already been a week as a family of four. Time has flown, yet it feels impossible to remember life before we were all together ♥️
At 12:38am, I was jolted awake by deep, hollow pelvic cramps. I figured I just had to use the bathroom, but even after peeing, the cramps didn’t stop. Braxton Hicks, I told myself. I crawled back into bed, pillow between my legs, and started timing. Four contractions later, the app blared: “Go to the hospital.” I laughed—that’s just legalese, surely it says that to everyone. No way this was it. I lay there for ten more minutes, watching Penelope sleep, before finally getting up because lying still had become unbearable.
Mike had fallen asleep in the guest room, as he often does after late-night work. By the time I made it downstairs, the contractions had intensified. I had to stop, breathe, and move through them. One look at me under the bedroom light and he was instantly awake, calling his parents to come over.
Between contractions, I barked out instructions while he frantically packed the hospital bag I had planned to finish the next day. His parents arrived around 2am; we kissed our sleepy firstborn goodbye and headed out.
The car ride was, hands down, the most uncomfortable of my life—but I tried to stay loose and relaxed 😅. We pulled into Christiana at exactly 2:22 (my angel numbers!) and headed into triage. At that point, speaking was impossible; I just kept moving, while Mike handled registration.
The nurse checked the baby’s heart rate and my vitals—everything looked good. She asked me to change and give a urine sample, but I was sweating, contracting, and in no state to even try. I stripped off my shorts and braced for a cervical check, half-hoping I was still overreacting.
