This April, we hosted Part Two of The Ukemi Project at our Queen Village dojo, and it brought something new to the mat.

In partnership with Judith Sachs and Anyone Can Move, this series introduced an intergenerational focus, bringing together Zhang Sah students and older adult participants in a shared learning space.

Through the practice of ukemi — safe falling and recovery, participants explored balance, mobility, and confidence in everyday movement. What started in separate sessions came together on the mat, where students stepped into teaching roles and learning flowed both ways.

It was more than a program, it was an exchange across generations, grounded in movement, trust, and community.

Grateful to everyone who was part of it.
