This site will never disparage immunizations, research and evidence-based practice proves the safety and efficacy of vaccines and rely on herd immunity to keep all children safe. Many of us older health care providers can tell stories of children permanently disabled or have died from childhood illnesses. We have very few or no stories about vaccine related events. We do not tolerate making immunizations the scapegoat of all issues that do not show causation. This site will never make light of this subject nor tolerate anti-vaccine sentiment.

Heroes in Action at Riverdale School 💛

Last week at Riverdale, four incredible educators leapt into action to rescue students from a sudden swarm of yellow jackets. In the midst of this heroic act, one educator was stung multiple times and required urgent medical attention.

That’s when our amazing school nurses, Sarah Nail and Colleen Cheatham, immediately responded. With quick thinking and professional skill, they administered an epipen and provided the care needed to ensure the educator’s safety.

This incident is a powerful reminder of just how critical it is to have a nurse in every school. School nurses are not only a trusted health resource — they are a vital line of defense in emergencies, ready to respond in the moments that matter most.
