World Hemophilia Day 2020 is here! - Hemophilia World News
Today is World Hemophilia Day!
"Get+involved virtually and stay safe
April 17, 2020 is World Hemophilia Day. It's a very important day for the World Federation of Hemophila (WFH) and the bleeding disorders community—but nothing is more important to us than your health and wellbeing. The WFH wants to ensure that everyone celebrates the big day in a way that is sensitive to the risks of the current global novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic."

The longevity of World Hemophilia Day is proof of the dedication and tight-knit nature of our community. The theme of the big day this year is “Get+involved”. It’s a call to action for everyone to help drive the WFH vision of “Treatment for All” at the community and global level.

COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2: practical recommendations for hemophilia patients - Hemophilia World News
For patients with bleeding disorders, “If you have COVID-19 infection, some clinicians suggest prophylactic therapy and maintaining higher clotting factor levels as a precaution against bleeding into lungs from potentially severe damage inflicted by SARS-CoV-2 and severe coughing/nose blowing creating increased blood pressure in brain that might lead to bleeding. There are case reports providing evidence to support this statement.”

Sometimes Patients Simply Need Other Patients
"In an ideal world, when we are faced with a new health problem, a clinician is available to sit down and address all our questions and anxieties about the condition and its treatment. This ideal is rarely met in the United States health system. More typically, we’re rushed through doctor visits that fly by too quickly for us to gather our thoughts.
Other patients can help. They have (or have had) your condition, as well as your anxieties and questions, and they’ve found a path through. Their journeys can be informative and helpful, and can also help you prepare for the next session with a doctor."
