Meet two of the people behind the care at Nueces County.

If you ask Sabas B. and Corry C. what keeps them coming back each day, the answer is simple; the people, their stories, and the opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life. Sabas and Corry see correctional health care for what it really is, a place where moments of understanding can change the way someone sees themselves.

It may seem small, but inside correctional health care quiet conversations and listening mean everything. Real care is built on little moments like these.

Before care is delivered, before a team steps inside a facility, and before a single patient interaction happens, there is a group working behind the scenes to make it all possible.

Our Marketing and Business Development team drives the strategy that strengthens partnerships, expands access to care, and helps correctional facilities across the country find solutions that truly make a difference.

This week we recognize their commitment to growth, collaboration, and the future of correctional health care.

Correctional health care asks you to see people fully, even in moments when they feel overlooked. It challenges you to show up with skill, compassion, and the belief that every patient deserves a chance to understand their health and move toward something better.

For Larrion Weatherspoon, Nurse Practitioner at Wexford Health, this work is more than a role, it is her purpose. She believes in the power of providing quality care and education on chronic illness, knowing that even small moments of understanding can lead to real change. To her, it is a duty to offer care mixed with encouragement, motivation, and the belief that every patient deserves to be seen, heard, and supported.

This National Nurse Practitioner Week, we celebrate Nurse Practitioners like Larrion who bring heart, hope, and healing to a community that relies on them more than they know.

Inside correctional facilities, the work of a Nurse Practitioner goes far beyond routine care. It is about building trust, providing stability, and bringing humanity into a space that often feels forgotten.

For Brandy J., becoming a Nurse Practitioner was never just a career choice. It was a calling to serve, to be an advocate, and to be a pillar of strength in her community. Her purpose led her to the Orleans Justice Center, where she provides care to patients who are seen, heard, and treated with dignity.

What does it mean to serve? For some, it means answering the call to defend a nation. For others, it means showing up every day to heal, protect, and lead within their community. For Seth Farnsworth, it has meant both.

What began as a commitment to his country has become a lifelong devotion to caring for others. For eight years, Seth served as an active-duty medical officer in the United States Air Force, including three years stationed in Northern Japan as the only USAF psychiatrist in the region. Serving for eight years taught him how to lead, adapt, and find solutions even when resources were limited, lessons that continue to shape his work in correctional health care today.

For Seth, service has never been defined by the uniform he wears but by the difference he makes. This Veterans Day we honor him along with all the brave men and women who continue to serve for our country.

Being a Nurse Practitioner means stepping into every day ready to solve problems, show compassion, and advocate for patients in every circumstance. In correctional health care, that responsibility carries even deeper meaning.

Wexford Health's nurse practitioners Kelly U. and David M. share how this role challenges them to grow both personally and professionally. Working in this environment has strengthened their skills, expanded their empathy, and reminded them why they chose this path in the first place.

This , we celebrate all NPs who continue to lead with heart, courage, and commitment. You are the foundation of compassionate care, and your impact reaches far beyond the walls of any facility. That's a wrap from Baltimore

From November 1st to 5th, the Wexford Health team attended the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) National Conference, the largest correctional health care event in North America. Professionals from across the country came together to share ideas, advance best practices, and strengthen the future of correctional medicine.

Wexford Health was proud to take part in the conversation, with presentations from Dr. Pracha Peter Eamranond, MD MPH, Teresa Fuller, and Marcel Dubois, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC. Each brought valuable insight into the evolving landscape of correctional health care and the impact compassionate, quality care can have on every patient we serve.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, connected with our team, and joined us for another incredible NCCHC experience.
