Friends -
On Monday, July 14, the Social Security Administration announced that starting on September 30, 2025, they will no longer issue paper checks for benefit payments.
This transition will affect anyone who still is receiving paper checks for their social security benefit payments. If you still receive paper checks for your social security benefit payments, you should be receiving a notice from SSA to alert you of this change.
The electronic payment options include:
· Direct Deposit: Beneficiaries should enroll in direct deposit with their financial institution. Payments can be deposited directly into your checking or savings account.
· Direct Express® Card: For people without a bank account, the Direct Express card is a prepaid debit card designed specifically for federal benefit payments.
Make sure to set up a direct deposit to your bank account or sign up for a Direct Express® Debit Mastercard® before the deadline to avoid interruptions in your benefits.
You can update your payment information anytime through your personal my Social Security account online.
Please share this update with individuals or communities who may still be receiving paper checks.
