PRAISE GOD!

is the verdict from Beloved University's FINAL June community convo on Raising Kids While Healing!

I got the privilege to sit and chat with so many parents on where they are on their healing journey as parents, and for some grandparents.

The amount of encouragement, prayer, love, and support on these calls were PHENOMENAL.

I'm so grateful for this portion.
This purpose.
& The plans God has.

May His will be done above all else.

If you're serious about being the parent you wished you had keep reading...................

God, I didn't grow up the way I wanted.

There were things that were done to me I didn't like.
Things that were said to me that I didn't agree with.
Situations I saw that I didn't understand and no one explained what was happening to me.

I felt alone sometimes.
I felt misunderstood.
I didn't feel protected.
It was lonely, and often times I wondered if you were truly good and if you really loved me.

Sometimes I still get those feelings.
I wonder if you see me struggling as a parent.
Trying to be what I didn't see.
Wanting to give my babies the best I can.
Lord I'm trying.
& some days my best doesn't feel like it measures up.
I need help!

Will you help me?
Will you guide me in my parenting?
Will you show up and help me know what to say and what to do?
I don't wanna react out of hurt or from the abuse I went through.
I want to be better. I want to do better for my kids.
Will you show me how to be the parent you've called me to be?

You wonder how this is going to affect them mentally and emotionally in the long run

You don't want to cause them any pain

You don't want them to worry because you shared too much

I know, I get it....

I ALSO BELIEVE

Kids listen to part of what you say but WATCH all of what you do.

How you care for yourself and allow others to treat you is teaching them how to love, how to trust, how to forgive, how to move on, how to push forward, how to speak up when they need something, and SO MUCH MORE!

At the end of the day, the question is

WHAT DO YOU WANT YOUR KIDS TO LEARN FROM YOU?

TEACH THEM WHAT YOU WERE NOT TAUGHT

What happened to you is a result of you navigating life based on what you didn't know.

At some point we have to learn how to
admit
acknowledge
& ask
so we can give our kids what we didn't have.

Which is why you work hard to do things differently

It's the reason you're raising your kids the opposite of how you were raised

because you don't want to create a life they need to heal from

but the TRUTH IS -- your parenting is not the answer to raising healed kids.
