An IUD is a tiny device that's put into your uterus to prevent pregnancy. It’s long-term, reversible, and one of the most effective birth control methods out there. Depending on the type you and your health care provider select, it may be able to prevent pregnancy for up to 12 years!

IUDs are divided into 2 types:
hormonal IUDs (Mirena, Kyleena, Liletta, and Skyla).
copper IUDs (Paragard)

Whether it's the pill, patch, IUD, implant, or something else, our non-judgmental staff is here to make your birth control decision easier.

Appointments are available now at multiple Western Pennsylvania health centers; check our convenient online scheduler or call 800-230-PLAN.

Critical Needs Day is coming to a close, but it isn't too late to provide a year of hormone therapy blood testing for one of your trans neighbors here in Western Pennsylvania. Bonus: Every dollar given today is matched! Learn more here: https://www.pittsburghgives.org/organization/ppwp

We hope you will join us and raise your voices in support of sexual and reproductive health care and declare: I'm for Planned Parenthood! I'm for CRITICAL Health Care!

Anti-reproductive rights extremists want to escalate restrictions on reproductive rights, and "defund" Planned Parenthood; disrupting access to vital health care for thousands of our neighbors.
Together, we can fight them!

Your gift for Critical Needs Day helps PPWP carry out our mission to provide comprehensive health care to those in need, disseminate information about human sexuality and the need for family planning, and advocate for public policies which guarantee these rights.

Thank you to our friends at & The Community Foundation of Westmoreland County for organizing this day of action!

Planned Parenthood is under direct attack RIGHT NOW.

"Defunding" Planned Parenthood really means stripping communities like ours of access to affordable health care. "Defunding" Planned Parenthood means denying care. "Defunding" Planned Parenthood means harm to Pennsylvania, and Pennsylvanians.

Today is Critical Needs Day—hosted by & The Community Foundation of Westmoreland County—and by donating, you are making a declaration that you understand the challenges our patients face, and will fight with us to effect positive change throughout the region.

We won't stand for these attacks on our community, and we’re ready to fight back. Are you?

Birth control pills come in a pack, and you take 1 pill every day. Simple! The pill is safe, affordable, and effective if you always take your pill on time. Besides preventing pregnancy, the pill has lots of other health benefits, too.

There are two kinds of birth control pills:
"Combination" pills, which have both estrogen and progestin, and "Progestin-only" pills which, appropriately, only contain progestin. Combination pills are the most common type, but may not be the best fit for you.

Whether it's the pill, patch, IUD, implant, or something else, our non-judgmental staff is here to make your birth control decision easier.

Appointments are available now at multiple Western Pennsylvania health centers; check our convenient online scheduler or call 800-230-PLAN.

We are in CRITICAL NEED of community support!

First things first: PPWP is still providing the full spectrum of sexual and reproductive health care at all of our health centers. Our services HAVE NOT changed.

Our neighbors & The Community Foundation of Westmoreland County are hosting Critical Needs Alert Day on Tuesday, August 5th. You can check out our organization profile and even donate right now!

With just $70, you can ensure free access to emergency contraception for a patient!
Donate Here: https://www.pittsburghgives.org/organization/ppwp

By donating during Critical Needs Day, you directly benefit our patients by increasing access to the full spectrum of sexual and reproductive health care, and stand firmly in support of an individual’s right to command their own future.

Last week, the Trump administration and Congress passed a Federal Budget which includes provisions to block Medicaid patients from getting care at Planned Parenthood health centers. Now, the health and well-being of millions of Americans is at risk.

Sexual and reproductive health care is time-sensitive and essential. Without Medicaid funding, patients may have to forgo birth control, STI testing and treatment, cancer screenings, and other critical, life-saving, health care. The Federal Budget cuts that these anti-abortion extremists passed will cause irreparable harm to Western Pennsylvania, but we will not let you down. Care continues—no matter what.

PPWP is committed to keeping our doors open. We have contingencies in place to ensure your care is still affordable and accessible, even if you use Medicaid. Please speak with our team when you check in. You will be provided an estimate before your services with the amount you may be responsible for.

The best way to support Planned Parenthood is by becoming a patient. If you live in our affiliate service area, and are not a Medicaid patient, we encourage you to become a PPWP patient for your birth control, wellness, or other health care needs. Reliable funding allows us to maintain no-cost and sliding-scale fee services to those in need.

Today marks the third anniversary of the Supreme Court of the United States’ (SCOTUS) disastrous ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which abandoned almost 50 years of precedent by overturning Roe v. Wade—ending the constitutional right for all Americans to access abortion care—leading to a cascade of state-level bans and legislative restrictions that have devastated reproductive health care access across the country.

Each of us has been directly and negatively affected by the Dobbs v Jackson Women's Health ruling.

Today, over 60 million Americans live under abortion bans in 22 states. Patients are forced to travel hundreds of miles when and if they can find the opportunity between work and other barriers, and we've seen widespread confusion and fear among health care providers and policy makers.

Decisions about our bodies belong to us. We deserve access to unbiased, comprehensive, and affordable health care without governmental interference.

Our mission is clear: to safeguard the health and autonomy of every person who comes to us for care. The fight for reproductive freedom is far from over, and the path is difficult, but together, we will overcome these challenges. We will not back down, and we will never stop advocating for justice and equality in health care.
