𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐘𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐆𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐨: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐚𝐛𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐫 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠

There’s something undeniably alluring about magick.
Whether it's candle spells, crystals under moonlight, or whispered incantations, it calls to the curious like a flame to the moth. Social media glamorizes it with aesthetic filters and bite-sized spells, giving the impression that magick is something trendy and harmless: a quick fix for love, luck, or revenge.

But here’s the truth: real magick isn’t a game. It’s not a costume to put on for Halloween or a spell jar you found on TikTok and decided to try because it looked "cute."

Magick is a practice rooted in energy, intention, and centuries, if not millennia, of deep spiritual tradition. And if you're not prepared to take it seriously, you might want to step back and rethink what you’re doing.

Because dabbling, quite frankly, can be dangerous.

The emotional charge of a reaction, the fear, the thrill, the sense of touching something “real”. can tempt someone to dive deeper into more intense spellcasting without ever learning the basics. They start jumping headfirst into the dark corners of the craft, mistaking power for understanding, aesthetic for substance.

And that’s how people get in over their heads.

Quickly. Quietly. And sometimes, irreversibly.

❖ 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐈𝐬 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐚 𝐇𝐨𝐛𝐛𝐲. 𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐚 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞.
Magick is a 𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦. Like any spiritual path, it demands knowledge, discipline, and respect. Lighting a candle and saying a chant without understanding what energy you're invoking is no different than mixing chemicals without reading the labels. Just because it doesn't look dangerous doesn't mean it isn't.

Every action in magick sets something into motion. You might not feel the effects immediately, but ripples travel. You don't have to believe in energy work for it to work on you, especially if you're meddling in things you don't understand.

❖ 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐬
A huge mistake new dabblers make is invoking spirits, deities, ancestors, the dead, or other entities, without building relationships or having proper protections in place. This is not summoning Siri to ask a question. Spirits are not obligated to play nice just because you read a few lines from a grimoire you bought on Etsy.

Disrespecting spiritual entities, intentionally or not, can open the door to lingering energies, nightmares, household disturbances, illness, and yes, even attachments. You can't just "undo" a summoning. Energy must be grounded, spirits must be properly dismissed, and your space must be cleansed.

❖ 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥 (𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐈𝐟 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐃𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐒𝐞𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐑𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐲)
Magick is not light-switch-on, light-switch-off. Energy has memory. And when you work with intention, especially when you mix in emotions like anger, desperation, or vengeance, it sticks. You may think a love spell is innocent, but coercing someone’s will through magick is manipulation, plain and simple. It can backfire. Hard.

Same goes for curses and hexes. People toss them around like glitter, not realizing that most experienced practitioners know how to return energy, shield, or dismantle harmful workings, and sometimes what you send out returns magnified.

❖ 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐆𝐨 𝐒𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬: 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐆𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐖𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠
If you’re still not sure how serious this is, here are real-world examples (drawn from countless community stories) of how 𝘥𝘢𝘣𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 with no training, no boundaries, and no respect, can lead to more than you bargained for:

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐓𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐎𝐛𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧
A beginner cast a candle spell to bring back an ex. It worked… but he returned emotionally unstable, jealous, and erratic. What started as a wish for reconciliation became a dangerous entanglement. Coercive love magick twists energy, it's not love, it's control.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐭 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐃𝐢𝐝𝐧’𝐭 𝐒𝐚𝐲 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐛𝐲𝐞
A group opened a portal with a spirit board and forgot to close it. Lights flickered. Shadows moved. One girl suffered sleep paralysis for weeks. When you invite the unseen without closing the door, 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 may walk through, and not everything is friendly.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐁𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤
Someone hexed an ex in anger. Days later, their life fell apart, job loss, car trouble, chronic headaches. It wasn’t divine punishment, and it wasn’t a case of karmic justice by way of the Threefold Law, ( a concept respected by many, though not one I personally follow.) But it was consequence. They didn't know the target had protective wards. The curse rebounded and hit them instead. Energy has a way of finding its source again.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 "𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐥𝐥" 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠
A money spell worked, but brought an insurance payout after a house flood. Be specific in your intentions. The universe delivered cash… through destruction.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐖𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐓𝐨𝐨 𝐅𝐚𝐫
A novice called out to 𝘢𝘭𝘭 ancestors during a ritual, welcoming energies that were bitter, unresolved, and disruptive.
Not all spirits in your bloodline are helpful. Vetting matters, even with family.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐈𝐘 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐖𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠
A banishing spell for "all negativity" resulted in lost friendships, stalled opportunities, and emotional isolation. They didn't realize they'd just banished anything that challenged their comfort zone, including necessary growth.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡
After opening their third eye without learning grounding or shielding, someone became hypersensitive to other people's emotions and spiritually raw. They were bombarded with energy they didn’t know how to block.

❖ 𝐈𝐭 𝐃𝐨𝐞𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐀𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐘𝐨𝐮: 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐅𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐈𝐭 𝐓𝐨𝐨
One of the most overlooked dangers of reckless magick is how it can affect those around you, especially the most energetically sensitive beings in your home: your 𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧.

Cats, dogs, and young children are 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘴.
They sense energy shifts more quickly than adults. When you open portals, invite spirits, or conduct spellwork without protection or grounding, you may not be the one to suffer first, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 might.

★ A dog suddenly growling at corners or refusing to enter certain rooms.

★ A cat pacing at night, tail puffed, tracking something unseen.

★ A baby waking up screaming at 3:00 a.m., eyes fixed on a space behind you.

★ Children developing night terrors or imaginary friends that feel anything but imaginary.

★ Pets becoming sick, lethargic, or aggressive for no medical reason after rituals.

These are not just coincidences. They are 𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴.
Animals and children often 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘪𝘵 when something unwanted lingers, because they can't rationalize it away like adults. They don’t second-guess their instincts.

If they're uncomfortable or distressed, pay attention. You may have left a door open you didn't even realize you created.

❖ 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐃𝐨𝐨𝐫 (𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐈𝐭)

When you cast a spell, meditate with intent, or call to unseen forces, you're making a declaration: "I am open." Open to what? That depends on your preparation. If you don’t know how to cleanse your space, ground your energy, or create wards and protections, then you're playing with fire without learning how to put it out.

❖ 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲
This path is not for thrill-seekers. It's for seekers, those who are willing to walk it with reverence, caution, and commitment. Practicing magick means being accountable for the energy you send into the world.

Respect the traditions, the tools, and the spirits who've been walking this path long before you picked up your first crystal. Power without knowledge is just recklessness.

❖ 𝐈𝐟 𝐘𝐨𝐮'𝐫𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐰, 𝐆𝐨 𝐒𝐥𝐨𝐰
If you're drawn to the path, take it seriously. Learn protections before you cast. Understand correspondences, ethical frameworks, and grounding techniques. Journal your process. Watch the moon. Listen more than you speak.

Magick will humble you, gently or forcefully, depending on how you show up to it.

𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭:
You may be able to dismiss or ignore the energy you stir, but your animals and children can't. They'll feel it first, carry it quietly, and suffer until you do something about it.
So again, don’t dabble. Baneful magick isn’t a game. If you don’t know how to shield, cleanse, or control what you conjure, you’re opening doors you may not know how to close.
Learn first… or be ready for what answers.

𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥, 𝐢𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲.
