My dad died when I was just 15 years old. One of my strongest memories from that week after his death was going back and forth to the funeral home with my family and meeting with the director to make arrangements. She was extremely caring, went above and beyond for us, and was even able to make us laugh during a time when smiling was extremely hard. That always stuck with me after all of these years.
So, when the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science (PIMS) hired me to redesign their website, I was honored, knowing that they are creating future funeral directors like the one we worked with all those years ago. Morticians are unspoken caretakers, helping people through times of sorrow, and it takes a special individual to follow this path.
We launched earlier this month, and it's been great to be able to continue to work with this caring group of educators.

This week, I sit down with Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science instructor and retired forensics investigator, Kevin Drobish. Two years ago, I sat down with Kevin for our first conversation to talk all about the “why” and “how” he became a funeral director. That was EP 90 and up until this week, it has been my favorite episode out of all 181 previous podcasts I’ve done. This week, Kevin and I go for Round Two. I didn’t think I could like our conversation more than our first but boy was I wrong. This is a 3 HOUR episode covering a cornucopia of great topics. We talk about everything from hot peppers and hot sauce to Kevin donating his body to science SPECIFICALLY for Forensic Entomology Studies which is absolutely something you don’t want to miss. I am so excited to drop this episode. I hope you enjoy it!

Over the last few years I’ve met so many great people. Each and everyone with a great story of their own. So, when people ask me my favorite episode of the podcast, it’s a really hard choice. However, I always seem to come back to Episode 90 with Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science instructor and retired forensics investigator, Kevin Drobish. It was my favorite conversation I’ve had to date. Until this week. This week, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Kevin, again, and it was everything I could have ever hoped for. If you ever thought about diving into the podcast, Kevin’s episode is always the first one I tell people to checkout. If you haven’t, go listen to EP 90 and learn about how Kevin got into working in death late in life. It’s a great warm up to the 3 hour episode I’m dropping with him this week. I’m so excited to put this one out. I know you’re going to love it as much as I did. Enjoy.
