Cheers to 61.

I continue my tai chi practice. I am back in PT for some maintenance for my aches. I try to walk the hills with my dogs several times a day.

In the past year I became aware in two incidents of how my decades of practice have been erased.

First I lost my balance & gentley fell. In my mind saying, I am falling. Nope. Too late. It has to be a reaction to regain balance resisting the fall.

Next I tried getting up off of the floor without using my hands, nope. This one really hit me.

It was enough to get serious about regular basic balance practice & stick with my PT routine.

Lucky I regain my skills quickly. I can get off the floor without my hands again. As for falling, only time will tell.

So when life takes you off the path of better fitness be kind to yourself.
When you choose to start keep it simple & consistent. It all starts with the first step. It’s never too late to focus on being proactive for your heath.

Attempting a new routine. A good walk over hills to the park. I do my tai chi form.

At day 9 I am happy to say I haven’t over done it. Getting back into shape is a challenge with age. My mind thinks I can perform like a young one but my body is not able to, at the start.

Tai Chi is the art that saved me from Chronic migraine cycle of two years. I know it has the power to help me gain strength, improve my balance while safely gradually helping improve my health.
I definitely feel stronger in my arms legs & core already.

The form feels effortless to perform. Less than a 10 minute workout with graceful & smooth moves.
I had to start fitness over in my 30’s and swore I would never let it happen again. 🤣 Now here I am @60 starting once again.

Be proactive in your health. It’s the most important thing we can do. Eat well, get sleep and stay active.

We’ve been walking 3-4 times a day. I enjoy seeing various flowers all over our area. We’ve had bad air quality, extreme heat warnings but we manage.
Hills. We love hills. A great workout & views. My knee is practically healed. My calves are getting bigger. I even feel my abs coming.
All while out with my butterflies feeling grateful. Life is good. I am liking this groove as my fitness routine. Those who know Mean Jeri is mellowing @59

I learned no damage, a small touch of arthritis but my joints are healthy.
Infact walking my dogs on all the hills is helping the injury from Feb to continue to heal. My discomfort is from some inflammation still in the joint.

I am Gumby damn it.

Seeing an orthopedic doctor on Monday for my knee. I had an injury in Aruba at the end of February. I have zero pain but swelling often. Hoping to learn it’s just still on mend.

I like Gumby never break but I am way too loosey goosey in my body. Obsessing to be a contortionist most of my life didn’t help.

However I did officially retire Gumby and I am trying to find a healthy balance in exercise.

Then the following week I get a cortisone shot in my thumb again…ouchie.
