Lyra Needs Surgery

Lyra just had his first round of post-surgery rehab and they said that he’s doing great!

Everything is healing really well, and he’s allowed to discontinue 2 of his medications (which is great news for both of us). And, now he needs to take a couple of slow walks every day, which is very exciting news for him!

If he keeps healing this well, hopefully we can start the other leg sooner than expected. Until his next rehab session in 2 weeks, we won’t really know any more. But for now, he’s doing so great!!!

And he’s very tired from his stressful afternoon 😴

I knew that this would be a difficult process, but I didn’t realize that it would be *so* hard.

Would anyone possibly be willing or able to dog sit tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon? Or know someone trustworthy that I can ask? It’s simple but a lot, just sit with him and pet him while I’m at work. You’ll have to apply a cold compress once or twice, and maybe give him a pain pill, but sq**rt some cheese on a plate and put the pill on top and he vacuums it all up. You’ll have to take him outside once or twice too.

The only downside is I don’t have cable and it would be a long “shift” because my shifts are long, but I will absolutely pay you!

Surgery on Lyra’s first leg is done as of about noon today. He’s resting up and doing okay so far, but he’s definitely starting to feel it now. His first round of using a cold compress is making him pretty uncomfortable, but as long as I literally don’t leave his side he is managing pretty well for now.

He’s got physical therapy every week for 6 weeks, then hopefully we can do the other leg. Until then, it’s very limited movement and lots of rest for him.

Thank you SO much to everyone who contributed so far! We could still use all the help we can get to pay down the debt from this surgery and to pay for the next one.

Also, huge shoutout to Cheyenne Veterinary Wellness and Surgical Center for seriously being the best! Taking such good care of my pup and being available 24/7 to answer my questions and give advice. You guys will always be my first choice for treatment now!

Happy Saturday!

Today, Lyra and I took our last afternoon walk for at least 8 weeks. His surgery is quickly approaching, and then begins the long road of healing.

Thanks to your generosity, so far we’ve raised $320 for him! I can’t thank you enough ❤️ every little bit helps!!

While we’re making great progress, we still have a long way to go. Keep your eyes open for raffles and giveaways coming in a few days!!

Hello everyone, and thank you for checking out my page!

My almost 3-year-old pup has been going through a really tough time since around Thanksgiving, but because of losing my job last June and having trouble finding a good job until recently, I wasn’t able to afford his vet visits until March or so. We discovered that he completely tore both ACLs in his hind legs and he also has another issue with his back right knee. He’s going to need surgery to fix all this, and it’s pretty expensive, almost $9,000.

Obviously I can’t afford that, but I won’t be able to live with myself if I don’t get him well again. Otherwise he’ll have his whole life being in pain and unable to jump, or walk or run properly. He can’t even walk on non-carpeted floors.

That being said, asking for help is hard for me, but I know when to swallow my pride. I’m willing to plunge myself into debt for years to get my pup well again, but if anyone finds it in their heart to donate any amount to help fund his surgery, I would be so forever grateful that I really can’t describe it in words.

I’m trying to avoid using third party webpages to avoid fees, so donations can be made via Zelle (message me for info), CashApp $natalielikesbirds, or Venmo . Any little bit helps! If everyone on my friends list gave $10, I would be about 80% of the way there!

I also know how hard money is to come by nowadays, so I promise that all donations go to Lyra’s surgery and believe me that creating this page and asking for financial help really is very hard for me. If anyone wants to know any specific details about the surgery, or has any questions in general, please feel free to message me.
