This past weekend, my husband and I worked on the Charon build for The Love Burn
As we put #17 of the skeletons on the wheel, Hudzo (the artist) explained this one was named for Silver Lucy and when Charon was displayed in Paris, a group of doves built a nest only in #17 -Silver’s one. They said the doves kept returning to build in just that one and no others.
It was an honor to be a small part of this amazing piece (it was on the Playa 2011 and 2017!)

It feels so strange to be celebrating anything right now during times of such personal + universal loss.
But, I feel like any moments of celebration and happiness are even more precious right now.
So, we invited some neighborhood friends to celebrate on the beach!
Before I take off again for some needed healing, it was nice to gather w my N Beach Miami crew.
Healing is a group activity in my opinion and we need good folks to remind us that happier times are ahead and that we can survive the sad ones together.

We did it mi amor !!
2 years ago, we convinced some of our closest friends to make the trek to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for La Boda Loca -our crazy wedding party!
My dear friend .uncovered.therapist officiated and read from my favorite poem ‘The Invitation’ by
My dear friend walked me down the aisle and read letters from my dad and step-mother and my girls and stood by my side.
The Invitation:
‘It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing.
It doesn’t interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dream, for the adventure of being alive.’
Almost 40 friends from coast to coast, from Miami to San Francisco, made the trek to Mexico to the gorgeous art gallery for an action packed, wild ceremony including a 10 piece mariachi band.
Everyone braved through a Covid outbreak and managed to have a blast together! (And some fun, new friendships were born.
Since then, we’ve all experienced ups and downs as well as some great, happy moments in between.
‘I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own, without moving to hide it, or fade it, or fix it.

I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or your own; if you can dance with wildness and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning us to be careful, be realistic, remember the limitations of being human.’
I’m glad to have Mi Amor as well as my great loves to support me through the good and the bad-and always to the soundtrack of M4RQ !
Together, we can do anything!!

It feels like grief is everywhere-from the tragedy in Israel, to the loss of a dear sweet community member to my own papa ….
I don’t know how we can survive these losses but I know they we have to try and do it together ….

Today we did a big hike (I need to move through my sadness) and found ourselves at the in Shadyside
I love the murals of solidarity and peace and esp the Superhero!
Somehow sorrow feels lighter when you share it.

This little girl just wrote a eulogy for her dad.
Far sooner than I expected or wanted.
I always loved having a young father -he was days into his 19th birthday when I was born and we grew up together in many ways.
He allowed me to be me yet kept me supported and grounded on my wild adventures.
There was no one like him and today the skies in Pittsburgh are raining as if weeping at the loss.
I don’t know how I’ll get through this but everyone’s support has been astounding.
I hope my stories of my dad let you know a little more about the man who raised me and showed me what decency is.
He was also the funniest man I’ve ever known and those memories are getting us through this.
Thank you for supporting me and getting to know this amazing man we called Mr Bob.

Today, right as the sun was rising and a sheen of dew glittered in the green grass- I held space for my father as he took his last breath.
After 43 days in the hospital, 10 in the ICU and many heart-wrenching moments-my father’s soul left his body.
He was, by far, the best man I’ve ever known.
I don’t know how I’ll survive this but I’m honored I got to witness this transition.
My teacher always calls it ‘The inhalation of God’ and I’m imagining him at peace with his maker.
I’m trying to picture my father, pain-free and happy and cracking jokes and in a better place.
This is hard and my heart is breaking more than I can stand.

I’m not known for my cooking, but, I do like to cook when I’m stressed.
So, and I decided to make dueling lasagnas-(I cheated by adding meat to mine.)
We have family coming over for shifts sitting w my dad, now they will be well fed (we also snuck in spinach)
What is the phrase Italians have about eating when you’re sad?
Or it is Mexican?

I’m not religious, but Pittsburgh has some amazing pre 1900s churches. Most are done in the traditional gothic style with the interior beams forming an X which was said to confuse demons from entering.
The first Presbyterian church was founded here in 1773.
I thought if I did some yoga out front it might count as a prayer ?
We covered all bases -Synagogues next !
