Beyond Stillness: Exploring the Depth of Savasana
with Jessica Mustafa

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Have you ever secretly wished to spend the duration of your practice in Savasana? Does the normal 5-10 minutes ever truly feel like enough?

B.K.S. Iyengar once wrote, "The stresses of modern civilization are a strain on the nerves for which Savasana is the best antidote."

In this one-hour workshop, we will explore this singular pose to examine the many ways deep rest can offer us a better understanding of our mind/body's internal landscape. Find ways to adapt Savasana for your ever-changing needs with the use of props, experience different breathing and mindfulness techniques, and dive deeper into the paradox of why this pose is the easiest to do, yet most challenging asana to sustain.

Give yourself the gift of stillness and rest before the busy holiday season!

Jessica loves using the energy of breath as a guide in each yoga class, finding steadiness and strength from child's pose to savasana. With attention to alignment and always weaving in ways to be more mindful and present, Jessica meets each student where they are at. Hi friends,

It’s been 10 weeks since the accident and in the past couple of weeks, I’ve finally started to
feel real progress! 💜

Healing has felt a bit like putting together a jigsaw puzzle. You start with the easy pieces — the corners and edges — but the middle takes time, patience, and persistence. Slowly but surely, it’s coming together.

My organs have recovered. My bones are healing. I’ve replaced medications with supplements. And every day, I try to add one thing that helps me feel more like me.
Before the accident, I had a lot of strength and healthy habits “in the bank.” After two months of healing on the couch, that account was fully depleted. Now, I’m making daily deposits again — small, steady habits that are restoring my strength and energy. I am, quite literally, reclaiming my life.

That said, it’s not all butterflies and unicorns - yet. I still have consistent pain, lingering PTSD, and a road ahead before full recovery. Healing isn’t a straight line, but I’m learning to meet each day with gratitude, patience, and hope.

If you’ve gotten off track with your yoga practice, meditation ritual, or mindful nutrition, it’s never too late to turn things around and reclaim your wellness. When you release the pressure of big expectations and focus on small, consistent actions, those daily deposits create a well of resilience — and you never know when you’ll need to draw from it! 💪

I don’t have words big enough to express my gratitude for my family, friends, and the breathe community. Your love, kindness, and encouragement have been the fuel I’ve needed to get through this experience. Thank you — truly. ❤️

I’m easing back into work a few hours a day, and I’m so excited to see the familiar faces I’ve missed. In some ways, it feels like I’ve been gone forever; in others, like no time has passed at all.

Either way, it feels so good to be back!

- Basic anatomy and exercise physiology
- Yoga history and philosophy
- Teaching methodology and practice teaching
- The business and ethics of yoga

Thinking about Teacher Training but have some questions? We're here to help! Here are some of our most frequently asked questions:

Q: What happens if I miss a session?
A: It is our expectation that you commit 100% to the training. Because life happens, we have built 10 hours into the program to allow for an unexpected absence. Our online sessions will be recorded and can be made up by listening to the recording.

Q: What if I can't do all the poses?
A: Teaching yoga is about understanding what you are teaching and how to communicate it. It is not about having a ‘perfect’ practice.

Q: I'm not sure if I want to teach. Will this training still apply to me?
A: More than a teacher training, breathe’s 200-hour course will play a significant role in your personal development and your growth as a yoga student.

Q: Will I only teach power vinyasa yoga?
A: The backbone of the training is the Baptiste Journey Into Power sequence. To ensure a well-rounded 200-hour training, students will learn the basics of intentional sequencing to create non-vinyasa classes as well. Mini immersions in yin, restorative yoga and meditation are part of this curriculum.

Four weeks post-accident update 💜

Physically: healing.
Emotionally: coping.
Spiritually: growing.

No more surgeries are needed — everything should heal on its own if I can be patient (and I can). The first few weeks were rough — I even picked up COVID in the hospital — but that’s
behind me now.

The fact that I’m alive, that Abby wasn’t hurt, that I have no paralysis or brain injury — all miracles I don’t take for granted.

This has been the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. But I have the tools, the family, the team, and the community to get me through. The outpouring of love and support has been humbling, and I’m learning to receive it — really receive it — and let it sustain me.

Still many weeks of recovery ahead, but I’m okay. And I’m grateful. 🙏

What started as a hobby for Cyndi transformed over years of business metamorphosis into the brand, multiple locations, and sprawling community that breathe is today. Not too long after she started, her daughters, Carly and Abby, joined Cyndi to contribute to breathe's evolution as a growing business while still preserving its authenticity as an inclusive, homespun family business. The Weis’ are visionaries and they collaborate with each other creatively to always stay inspired and in turn keep breathe as a source of inspiration to others.
