Had a great time at the AACC World Conference last week. Great to see old friends and make new ones. Now we're headed to Colorado for some rest and fishing.

Ronnie and I are on our way to Nashville for the AACC World Conference. Hopefully we will see some of you there. I'm doing a Torn Asunder Training on Wednesday and a Workshop Friday on Peer Counseling. Come by Booth 603 and say "Hi."

Well, Ronnie & I are at the Grand Bernardin Hotel in Portoroz, Slovenia ministering at the Reach Global Missionary Conference. I'm doing a couple of workshops and some counseling. We've been to this conference several times now and it is so encouraging for us to see many of these servants prosper as they continue to spread the gospel in difficult areas. It's always a pleasure to be here.

Dave & I so appreciate Noah and his strong testimony for the Lord. It was great having him visit Dave yesterday. It was definitely the highlight of his day. What a blessing friends are. Noah, you are too kind. Thank you for gracious words. God is amazing.

Sitting with my mentor Dave as he gets his chemo to fight cancer. Since 1996 this man has been one of my life mentors and we meet for lunch every couple weeks. He's helped me navigate some of the largest storms of my life and provided strategies to see Gods plan for my life. Now we can battle this one together. He and his wife are mentors to Chantel and I. Our marriage is what it is thanks to his guidance. Please pray for Dave. This man has been paramount in my life.

Ronnie and I just returned from speaking at the ReachGlobal Asian Conference in Thailand. We had a wonderful time renewing old friendships and making lots of new ones. God blessed and it was exciting to hear and see what He is doing in Asia.

In Chicago today & tomorrow doing some training for the Salvation Army. Ronnie's been gone ministering in Africa & Vietnam and I'm looking forward to seeing her on Friday.

I know; I haven't been very active on my FB page, but I have a good reason - I've been traveling a lot. Had a great time speaking at the National Biblical Counselors Association in New Jersey - wonderful people - so receptive and gracious. God bless your ministry. And today I'm returning from a week in Singapore with REACH Couselling - where I've been teaching and training therapists and lay people on Torn Asunder. There are now over 200 therapists trained to work with couples suffering from adultery. It has been such a blessing to see what God is doing in that country. This Saturday Ronnie & I head to Cuba. We'll tell you more about that soon. Have a wonderful Memorial Day!

Questions #9 of the Top Ten Questions Re: Adultery
How Does One Build Trust After the Betrayal?
The healing process must be done whether or not the marriage survives and it follows a very distinct path (see April 16). To the degree that a spouse can FORGIVE, to that same degree they can begin to rebuild RESPECT for the other, and to the degree that they can rebuild RESPECT, they can begin to rebuild TRUST, and to the degree they rebuild TRUST, they can rebuild LOVE should they chose to do so. Adultery fractures a marriage but with forgiveness, respect, trust and love a couple can create what they have always wanted. Jesus said the "the person who is forgiven much, loves much."

All of us have found ourselves saying and doing things with our children that we as children promised ourselves we would never say and do. How were these hurtful patterns passed on? But more importantly, what can I do to stop the cycle?

We are now ready for Question #8 of the Top Ten Questions Re: Adultery - What Does Forgiveness Look Like? First, we know that forgiveness is necessary for healing to take place, but there is a big difference between forgiveness & reconciliation. For instance, forgiveness is mandated; reconciliation is not. Forgiveness is free; reconciliation is earned. The secret of thorough forgiveness lies first in listing the details of the injury & secondly, in identifying the emotional injuries in each detail. One can only forgive what they know. They can't forgive what they don't know.

Continuing on with Question #7 of the Top Ten Questions Re: Adultery. What Should a Couple Do if They Find Their Marriage Experiencing an Infidelity? Recovery in any type of infidelity will probably require some assistance. If a spouse is involved in some kind of compulsive sexual acting out, they will need to get sober first. This kind of behavior is not about the marriage or the spouse; it commonly comes from a wound that one spouse brought with them into the marriage. If the wound happened before the marriage (molestation, r**e, p**n use, etc.) then that individual is responsible to "fix" it. A spouse didn't cause it, they can't change it & they can't cure it. To try couple's therapy initially for this kind of acting out will not work.
