Hi all,
Sorry that this is long, but it has been quite a journey over the last 2 years and 8 months. My family and my friends know that I am in end stage liver disease, and I need a liver transplant. I am currently on United Network for Organ Sharing list (UNOS). I am registered at UMass Memorial Medical Center Transplant Clinic in Worcester, MA. Phone # 508-334-1269 or 580-334-2023. Jacqueline Caron, RN is my Liver transplant coordinator.
Normally someone who needs a liver would just get on a list and wait for someone else to pass away and then swap lives with them. For me, my MELD score (Model for End-Stage Liver Disease) range has been up and down and many of us on the list find themselves having to wait a long time for a deceased liver donor.
I strongly encourage everyone to consider becoming an organ donor. Becoming an organ donor comes with one of the most gratifying benefits: the chance to save lives. You can register as an organ donor through the RMV. Simply check “yes” on your license application or when you renew your license. Did you know that every donor can save up to eight lives and every 10 minutes another person is added to the transplant list.
I have chosen to use social media to extend my search for a living donor recipient. If you are interested in learning more about becoming a donor, you can visit https://www.ummhealth.org/umass-memorial-medical-center/services-treatments/surgery/services-we-provide/organ-transplant-surgery/meet-the-transplant-team
