✨ Big News! ✨
After 3.5 transformative years in Austin, I’m heading to Grand Rapids, Michigan this December! Along with this move, my role in the birth world is evolving from focusing on birth support to focusing on education, lactation, and daytime postpartum focus. I have begun the journey to become an IBCLC! 🍼✨

Becoming a full spectrum doula and supporting pregnant people has profoundly shaped my life, and I’m so grateful for every client, mentor, and friend who has trusted me, taught me, and grown alongside me. 💛

To my Austin community: Thank you for welcoming me into your most vulnerable and beautiful moments. This chapter has left a lasting imprint on my life. 💕 Also - to my Austin community who needs support getting your period back, I will always support you.

To my Michigan community: I can’t wait to connect, grow, and join efforts in advocating for Q***r Reproductive Justice. Let’s create something beautiful together. 🌈

Swipe through to learn more about this transition and celebrate the incredible moments that brought me here. 🖤

The Evidence Based Birth Childbirth Class was developed by Dr. Rebecca Dekker, PhD and author of Babies are Not Pizzas to put the most up to date evidence based information into the hands of communities and parents so you can make empowered and informed decisions about your birth. You’ll watch videos she recorded herself, then we will come together each week to discuss what you learned, how it applies to you, and what questions you have.

You will learn:
• About evidence-based care and how to know if you’re receiving it
• Aton of comfort measures - we’ll practice together in the last class!
• Advocacy skills to create a birth environment that you want. Including finding a provider that you trust
• Pregnant people and their birth partners leave this class feeling more confident about their birth.

Content note: this course has gendered language and references the role of the partner in many of the videos. If you are a choice or single parent, I want you to know that this partner can be anyone who is going to be present at your birth!

Next series starts March 3! Hybrid series: First and last class are in person the rest are on zoom!

New Expectant Parent Walking Group!
What: I am starting this group as an opportunity to connect with my clients regularly throughout our time working together, to create an opportunity for expectant parents to meet other people who are preparing for and embarking on this parenting journey, and to spend time outside in community through the winter.

When: Each Sunday from Jan 7-March 3, 2024

1pm meet at the foodtruck park where Desnudo Coffee is located. Grab coffee, tacos, or Kerlaches!
1:15pm walk along Boggy Creek Greenbelt Trail until we want to turn around - 2:05pm at the latest
3pm say goodbye until next week!

Who: Anyone who’s about to become a parent - pregnant people, partners, first timers, experienced parents, parents who are adopting or using a surrogate, etc. Little ones are welcome, too. Feel free to invite your friends! ~Other doulas and birthworkers welcome too!~

Please dm me if you have questions, need help finding us, or if you’re running late.

I will post on my instagram story if I am canceling due to weather or because I’m at a birth!

Taught my first Evidence Based Birth childbirth class yesterday and WOW. Teaching fills my cup in a whole new way. The parents in my class are AMAZING, and I’m so excited to spend 6 whole weeks getting to dive deep into all the juicy birth information, advocacy, comfort measures, and mental/emotional transformation that occurs.

Pregnant? Next EBB childbirth class series is starting in May!

Healthy you, healthy baby might be the most important thing but it is not the only thing that matters. Your birthing experience matters. How you were treated and how you felt while giving birth matters. How you feel about it now matters.

I will never say “well you and your baby are healthy and that’s all that matters”. I will make space for your gratitude of that health AND your grief, anger, sadness or anything else that comes up about your birthing experience in the moment, a few days later, or even years down the line.

My job is to make sure you go into your birth prepared with a plan A, B, and C. A plan for how to care for yourself if things don’t go as you hoped. And dedication to making sure you are an active part and decision maker during your birth experience regardless of the outcome. My job also includes holding space for you to process past experiences.

Getting ready for a postpartum visit baking lactation bars and wearing my “Hold the Complexities” shirt from . A fitting shirt to wear while preparing to hold space for my client to process and reflect on their birth experience.

Chances are if you’re postpartum you are feeling a multitude of emotions that might be conflicting, but I’m here to remind you there is space for all of them. Grief, gratitude, anger, fear, regret, worry, exhaustion, love, relief, frustration, and more.

The term Q***r Reproductive Justice was coined by ***rbirthworker and describes the freedom for everyone regardless of race, gender, sexuality, ability, socioeconomic status, education level, age, etc to have true reproductive freedom and bodily autonomy. It was inspired by Reproductive Justice from

[VD: Kimmi sitting at a picnic table with a large tree in the background Aj ward Ku dancing to the song. The text reads “what do I do as a full spectrum doula? Emotional, informational and physical support during your reproductive journey. Non judgmental empathic listening and preparing together. Support through any outcome and all the emotions that come with it. Birth, abortion, adoption, surrogacy, miscarriage, stillbirth. Excitement, anger, fear, joy, grief, gratitude, stress, love. Advocate for q***r reproductive justice while prioritizing your needs, wants, and experiences. QTBIPOC Disabled birthing lives matter.”
