Celebrating a True Community Champion!

We are so proud of Joy Hinkelman, our Executive Director, for being honored as part of Plano Women of Inspiration in the Star Local News.

Her journey into nonprofit work began as a personal calling, and today she's a vital force in Plano’s senior community — known not just for her leadership, but for her warm hugs and heartfelt connections.

Joy’s story is a beautiful reminder that small acts of kindness can spark lasting impact. Whether she’s fostering new programs, mentoring others, or simply offering a listening ear, Joy is always building bridges of compassion and care.

Congratulations, Joy! We’re so lucky to have your heart and leadership in our community.

🧡 Volunteer Opportunity Alert! 🧡

Project Independence at the Wellness Center for Older Adults needs YOU! Our seniors rely on friendly faces to help them maintain mobility, confidence, and independence after a hospital stay—and your time can make all the difference.

We’re looking for volunteers to assist with:
• Transportation (rides to doctor appointments & errands)
• Light housekeeping
• Grocery pick‑ups
• Companionship & friendly visits

Whether you’re retired, a parent with school‑hour availability, or simply looking to give back, your smile and support can bring hope and comfort to someone in need. ❤️

Welcome Our Newest Board Member: Ray McCormick!

Please join us in welcoming Ray McCormick to our Board of Directors! Ray brings over 30 years of experience in sales, publishing, workforce development, and social services—including work with the Department of Labor and Department of Family and Children Services.

He currently serves as President of the Plano AARP Chapter, where he passionately advocates for seniors and stronger community connections. After caring for his late wife, Linda, Ray found support at the Wellness Center for Older Adults—and now gives back as a weekly volunteer helping other seniors navigate essential services.

Ray is also a school crossing guard with the Plano Police Department, a Sociology graduate from Lee University, and a proud dad and grandpa who loves walking, sunsets, and spoiling neighborhood dogs.

We’re thrilled to have Ray’s heart, experience, and dedication on our board!
