Meet Dr. McCalman
I am a Bariatric and General Surgeon operating in the McKinney and Frisco areas. I am opening a Bariatric and General Surgery practice, Inspire Bariatrics. We plan to open in October. While this will be a new venture, my patients know that they will enjoy the same personal, advanced and customized approach that they have come to expect from me. After eight years of treating patients with bariatric, minimally invasive, and robotic techniques, I am looking forward to partnering with you to help you reach your goals.
DFW natives, my family and I are thankful that we get to live in such a cool area. We love the historic McKinney downtown, and the amazing shopping and sports venues in Frisco, Plano, Allen, and Dallas.
I graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Texas at Arlington. I then attended the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, graduating with a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree in 2007. My husband, Dave, and I then moved to Farmington Hills, Michigan where I completed an Internship and Residency with Michigan State University at Botsford Hospital in 2012. After a fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery with Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, I practiced in Southeast Texas for four years. While there, I had the opportunity to serve as Bariatric Medical Director, achieving a Center of Excellence from the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) of the American College of Surgeons. I was also board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery, and awarded the title of Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgery. I have been practicing in the North Dallas area now for three years, and we are thankful to “put down roots.” I can’t wait to see what is in store for Inspire Bariatrics and the patients we are privileged to treat.
I live in McKinney with my husband Dave, 2 children, and our lazy rescue dog. We love to hike, bike, swim, fish, hunt, attend church, craft, read, go to the zoo, and camp-out. I am so thankful for the love and support of my family, and the fact that I get to do a job that I love every day. I get to help patients realize their dreams, enrich their lives, and achieve their goals...What a fun journey to be a part of!
