🌟 Doula Spotlight: Sawyer Strand! 🌟
Meet Sawyer—a devoted wife, mother of four, and passionate advocate for maternal support in rural South Dakota. Living north of Platte, Sawyer brings care, compassion, and connection to families across central, south-central, and southeastern SD. Whether she’s homeschooling, tending to horses and chickens, or offering lactation guidance through her role as a SD WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor, Sawyer’s heart is always with mothers and babies.
Sawyer’s journey to doula work began nearly a decade ago through breastfeeding support. Though the timing wasn’t right for doula training until recently, the calling never left her.
Now, she provides birth and postpartum doula services, lactation support, and prenatal care—meeting each family exactly where they are and ensuring they feel seen, heard, and cared for.
“I want to be that hope and help for other moms.”
She knows firsthand how vital support is in the postpartum period, especially in areas with limited access to healthcare. Her mission? To be the hands and heart that stand in the gap.
A recent client she supported through birth and postpartum care reminded her just how meaningful this work is—sharing both laughter and tears as they navigated life with baby #4.
Sawyer believes that every family deserves the support of a doula, and she approaches each relationship with deep faith, lived experience, and a genuine desire to nurture. She says it best:
“This is YOUR birth, YOUR special memory, and YOUR life. I feel privileged to be a part of these moments in time.”
