Part 5 of the Wellness Wednesday series-the Final Chapter

Movement.

A body in motion, stays in motion. We've all heard it.

You don't have to hit the weights, run a marathon, or even join a gym to get the activity needed to stay healthy.

It all comes down to the little things. Take a 10 minute walk after a meal. Use the stairs instead of the elevator. Park a little further away at the store.

Small additions like these into a daily routine can have a positive impact on your well being, mood, and energy levels. That little addition will give the boost to make bigger additions as the body gets used to it.

Part 4 of our weekly Wellness Wednesday Series!

We hope everyone had a happy new year!

Stress is practically unavoidable. Whether it is work, a bad start to the day, finances; the little things pile up. The key to combating stress is to recognize when it is beginning to take effect.

Some of the immediate signs you are under stress can be increased heart rate, elevated blood pressure, muscle tension, shortness of breath, increased irritability...the list goes on.

Here are some simple tips that can calm the effects of stress in as little as 1-3 minutes:

🌬️ 1. Slow the breath (fastest relief)

Inhale through your nose for 4 seconds
Exhale slowly through your mouth for 6–8 seconds
Repeat 5–6 times.

πŸ‘‰ Longer exhales tell your nervous system you’re safe.

🦢 2. Ground your body

Press your feet firmly into the floor
Name 5 things you can see, 3 things you can feel, 1 thing you can hear

πŸ‘‰ Pulls attention out of racing thoughts and back into the body.

πŸ’ͺ 3. Release muscle tension

Clench your fists or shoulders for 5 seconds
Release fully for 10 seconds
Repeat 2–3 times.

πŸ‘‰ Teaches the body the difference between tension and relaxation.

🌿 4. Change posture

Sit or stand upright
Roll shoulders back, lift chest slightly, relax jaw

πŸ‘‰ Body posture directly affects stress hormones.

πŸ‘ƒ 5. Breathe through the nose

Close your mouth
Breathe slowly through your nose for 1–2 minutes

πŸ‘‰ Reduces heart rate and stabilizes breathing.

β˜€οΈ 6. Step outside (even briefly)

Go outside for 2–5 minutes
Look at the sky or trees

Wellness Wednesday Part 3: Relax, Rest, Reset

First off, a Happy New Year to you all and a big thank you to those who have liked and followed the page. Your support is appreciated, and helps our small business grow!

As we enter the new year and reflect back upon this last, we do truly hope it was filled with fond memories and exciting excursions.

Remember when setting your resolutions, to make sure the goal is achievable. A series of small achievable steps accomplish more than a large goal that may set you up for failure.

So let's start small. Get a nightly routine going, one that will wind you down and reset the stress meter. Try to turn off the phone an hour before your head hits the pillow, and aim for the same time each night. This will help your body adapt to a specific schedule which will lead to more restful nights and reduced stress.

We have a few days ahead of us this holiday season of indulgence. Whether it be main courses, cookies, pies, or all the other goodies that come with season.

Don't let the stresses of having that perfect Holiday get to you and don't feel bad about over-indulging; it's all about having a wonderful season with family and friends.

After the season is over, there's always time to get back into the swing of things. Well balanced nutrition is key to having the energy, and gut health to get you through each day feeling good.
