On this day in 1938, E.C. Thomas opened Thomas Funeral Home at the current location we operate in today. Mr. Thomas remodeled the property that was formerly a doctors home/office into “a modern, up to date funeral home.” As the advertisement reads. The Funeral home was a continuation of the families business on Main Street that was Curtright & Ricketts Funeral Directors. The Thomas family owned the funeral home for 62 years until sold in 1990.

This evening at 6:30pm the Grief Support Group will begin meeting every week to go through the Grief Share Program together. If you have endured the loss of a loved one, grief share is a loving christian environment to find a community and healing.

🔹NATIONAL FUNERAL DIRECTORS DAY 🔹

Today we pause in celebration of the work we get to do and the people we have the honor of serving. Although today is designed to recognize our work here at the funeral home, I am far more focused on the appreciation that we are given the opportunity to serve your family and this community.

Being a funeral director is not an easy job, but it is a fulfilling one. We are on call 24/7, many work days don’t end at 5pm and some nights of rest are interrupted by an immediate need. However, the honor and privilege it is to serve you and your family far exceeds the hard work. To me this isn’t just a job, but a gift. A gift from God that I get to do what I feel called by him to do - serve those in desperate need.
