It’s been almost a year since our last quick update. It’s been a heartbreaking, anxious, stressful time, but ultimately worth it.
It all started in early April….. Admin Lynette’s father passed away very suddenly; we were unsure if The Oldest would actually have the credits to graduate at the end of the school year; I found out that I was pregnant.
In May, after lots of discussion as a family and with our extended support network, we made the decision to move 1,500 miles away, to be closer to friends who needed help; we were still under intense stress about The Oldest graduating, their impending 18th birthday and how we were going to handle basically starting from scratch with a new baby (a 14 & 18 year age gap was pretty daunting); on The Oldest kids 18th birthday, I was getting ready for work and started cramping really hard, by the time I got to work I knew I was losing the baby, by the end of my work day, the baby was gone; The Oldest graduated 10 days later; we went to Admin Lynette’s fathers funeral.
In June, when my family returned home to Utah, I stayed behind to help with estate stuff and start getting a jumpstart on a new adventure for my family.
July was the most stressful and our new adventure almost crashed and burned before it even got started. I found a place to live, went back to Utah to help finish packing up the house and get myself, Youngest, our belongings and cat back to our new home and the two recently adopted cats (from Admin L’s parents) that were waiting for us, before the ends of the month so we could get school registrations taken care of and i could continue Job Hunting, as 2 humans and 3 fluffers were living off of what was left in my savings account and my last couple here of paychecks from my time at the school.
August to November was a blur of stress involving jobs, school, moving from one apartment to another, multiple cross country trips to get everyone and everything from Utah to Arkansas and our family being mostly split up. The weekend after Thanksgiving, Hubby made the last big trip with the truck and trailer, he started living in Arkansas with the rest of us, our family was complete again.
December to the end of February, we spent time reconnecting as a family, discussing our next step, getting the money from our Utah house, “window shopping” for our new house, Hubby making several trips back to Utah to retrieve the last handful of items in storage and cars, moving from window shopping to actual house shopping, the week after Valentine’s Day we found a house we were all satisfied with (not our dream home, but a home), we closed and got the keys 7 days later (rather quickly because everything had already been done and was ready for us).
March to Current was spent moving into our new house. While we have everything moved in, about 70% of it still needs to be unpacked.
So that’s our next adventure, making our house into a home, new job for Hubby, a period of rest for me (I took an opportunity presented to me at work and decided that Home Health was not my career path, it took too much of a toll on my mental and physical health and didn’t pay well enough to continue).
I am accepting orders again.
