Meet Harwood Elementary—our amazing Gem Site in Rigby, ID! 💛
This school goes way beyond the classroom. It’s a dual immersion community school that offers Spanish + English classes, afterschool programs, a community greenhouse 🌱, a food and clothing pantry, and even counseling services right on campus. Talk about a full support system!
As AmeriCorps members, we get to be part of it all—helping out with after-school and summer programs, running structured recess (teaching kids how to play together and build social skills), organizing food for the backpack program, and offering kindergarten readiness classes for parents in the community. 🎒📚
We’ve also had a blast helping with fun events like the Harwood School Carnival 🎉—a night full of games, food, and bringing the whole community together.
And honestly, one of the best parts of serving here? Our site supervisor, Dawn. She’s kind, super supportive, and always makes sure we have what we need—plus she’s amazing with the kids. 💬
