What a difference 3 months can make! After one small rejection hiccup mid April, Bronson is doing amazingly well. He’s graduated cardiac rehab and passed his 3 month cardiac catheter and biopsy with flying colors. The doctor said his pressures are better than that of most healthy people! He was released to come home last Wednesday and was reunited with Sammy ♥️

We travel back to SLC for appointments every other week for the next while but it is so good to be home. The next 9 months are important as Bronson learns to live a new lifestyle, he is at the most risk of rejection during the first year post transplant. Thank you for all of your love and support. We are so blessed and grateful for the amazing people we have in our life.

Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, letters and gifts! Bronson is doing great! He was released from the hospital on 3/31, just 15 days post transplant. His first cardiac catheter/biopsy went well, he is showing no signs of rejection and the pressures in his heart and lungs are awesome. His days are filled with meds, cardiac rehab, meds, echocardiograms, blood draws and more meds! It’s a lot to say the least! It’s amazing to see the progress he is making, he’s working hard and it’s paying off. He walked 15 minutes on the treadmill yesterday with no problems…something he’s never been able to do until now. It’s very exciting. We will stay in Salt Lake City until his doctors release him. He’s doing so well we believe it will be sooner rather than later. His next cardiac catheter/biopsy is on 4/29. Please send him your love, we pray it goes as well as the first! Love from us to all of you 🫀

Only 8 days inpatient on 1a status and Bronson received an offer for a heart! He was transplanted last Sunday and is doing amazingly well. This week has been one of the longest and hardest weeks of Bronson life. We still have so much work ahead of us but we’re so grateful to be post transplant. We are hoping Bronson’s week goes well and he will be discharged by the end of the month. We have to stay in Salt Lake City, UT for approximately 3-6 months and we are looking forward to being home this summer!

Please continue to donate and share! Every dollar counts! 🫀

Last Thursday, March 6th, Bronson was admitted back into primary children’s hospital due to reduced heart function. He’s since been moved to the 1a transplant status. The heart transplant team works daily to make sure his medication therapy is optimized for Bronson’s best quality of life and making sure he’s in the best condition when he receives a heart offer. Bronson is starting cardiac rehab and we’re excited for both the fun social interaction and conditioning that will help Bronson be set up for success when he gets a new heart. Please keep Bronson in your thoughts. It’s hard to be in the hospital and he’s pretty bummed to be back here. Thank you all for your love and support. Bronson continues to receive visits, calls, cards and gifts from family and friends and it means the world to us. https://cota.org/cotaforteambronson/

February 28th officially marked Bronson’s first month on the transplant list. They say time flies when you’re having fun! There have been many challenges and so much to be grateful for.

Bronson’s move from inpatient to outpatient has been an absolute blessing. Although we still spend a majority of our days at the hospital, having the freedom outpatient offers has been a life saver. Bronson has already started to pop up on heart offer lists so we have reason to be hopeful. We believe it’s possible to be back home by fall of this year. Please keep your fingers crossed for us.

I’ve included a few pictures of Bronson’s journey. Thank you to everyone who has helped us along the way! It can be so hard to ask for and accept support but each day gets a little bit easier because of the people we have in our lives. https://cota.org/cotaforteambronson/

Bronson was born with Barth Syndrome which is a rare genetic disorder. Barth Syndrome brings many unique challenges, two major challenges being Dilated Cardiomyopathy and Left Ventricular Non-Compaction Cardiomyopathy, which Bronson was diagnosed with at 2 months old.

Dilated cardiomyopathy and left ventricular non-compaction cardiomyopathy are both heart muscle diseases that can cause the left ventricle to enlarge and weaken, leading to impaired pumping function.

Bronson is now 15 years old. Over the last couple of years, Bronson’s quality of life noticeably declined due to heart failure.

Anyone who knows Bronson understands his love for life. Bronson is empathetic, loving, feisty and hilarious! He loves adventure and traveling, cooking and eating unique and delicious foods, gardening and spending time with his family. Bronson is an animal lover and has a special place in his heart for all living things, especially his dog Sammy.

In January 2025, Bronson was placed on the heart transplant list. This resulted in a temporary relocation from Idaho to Salt Lake City, Utah.

We are hopeful Bronson will receive the life saving offer/gift of a heart soon as the daily management of his heart failure is taxing physically, mentally, emotionally and monetarily. If all goes well, Bronson hopes to be back home and reunited with Sammy by the end of the year.
