Last week, one of my middle school clients who I have been working with since last Summer graduated from speech therapy. 🥹

Over the weekend, I sat in the audience watching her take on a speaking role in a play, using her voice with confidence, expression, and joy.

This playbill isn’t just a program. It holds so much more. It represents her growth, her courage, her voice, and the journey she’s been on to get here.

Every child’s path is their own and moments like this are a reminder that it’s never just about speech. It’s about being heard, building confidence, and stepping into who they are.

I feel so grateful to have been a small part of her story.
The most meaningful kind of graduation. ♥️🫶🏻 we practiced her lines for months. :)

I can’t translate forever! One of my favorite parts of being a speech therapist is helping kids feel understood and not just correcting sounds, but bridging the gap between what they mean and what others hear. It’s not just about drilling sounds it’s learning to self correct and monitor their own speech and then carry that over into their everyday!

Articulation support = confidence, connection, and fewer frustrated moments.

We’re not just working on sounds… we’re making sure they have the strategies to carry it over independently!

Caregivers, educators, and community members are invited to “Language Learning and Connection: How Language Shapes Social Emotional Learning” on March 12th with the Point Pleasant Early Childhood Advisory Council at the Nellie F. Bennett Library.

This workshop will highlight how language development supports emotional regulation, relationships, and a strong foundation for learning with practical, relationship-based strategies you can use right away.

Open to anyone who supports young children and wants to better understand the powerful link between communication and connection. 💙

The holidays don’t always look the way the movies show them.
And that’s okay. 🤍

For neurodivergent children and families, communication may look different.
Excitement may be quieter, or louder.
Unwrapping gifts might be slow, fast, methodical, or skipped altogether.

There may be scripts instead of small talk.
Movement instead of sitting still.
Breaks instead of full schedules.

But joy is still there.
Connection is still there.
Memories are still being made, just in ways that honor each child’s nervous system, communication style, and needs.

This season, let’s widen our definition of what “holiday magic” looks like.
Let’s make room for differences without trying to fix or rush them.
Because when children feel safe, accepted, and understood, that is the real gift. 🎁
