It’s back to school season, but don’t let your kids' back suffer! Here are some simple tips to keep in mind when packing a backpack.

1. Keep it as light as possible. Ideally, it should be no more than 10–15% of your child’s body weight.
2. Adjust the straps so the bag’s bottom sits above their hips.
3. Always wear both straps so the weight is distributed equally.
4. Pack heavy items so they sit against your child’s back.

Nutrition provides the essential nutrients your body needs to function ideally. Having a balanced diet ensures your body has the energy, vitamins and minerals required for growth, repair and overall health. Not having balanced nutrition could lead to deficiencies, weakened immunity and a higher risk of chronic conditions like heart disease, obesity and diabetes. Adequate nutrition also enhances brain function, improving focus, mood, and productivity.

Easy ways to maintain a healthy life:

1. Adopt a balanced diet: Focus on whole foods, including fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains and healthy fats. Limit processed foods and added sugars.

2. Stay physically active: Regular exercise supports cardiovascular health, improves mood, and helps maintain a healthy weight. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate activity most days.

Are you having back pain after being on your desk for multiple hours?

Sitting at a desk all day can lead to neck pain, headaches, and back discomfort if your work or study area is not set up correctly. Try these simple adjustments for better posture and spinal health!

1. Keep your monitor at eye level - This helps prevent neck strain and forward head posture.

2. Support your lower back - Use a chair with lumbar support to maintain the natural curve of your spine.

3. Keep your feet flat on the floor - Or use a footrest to support proper alignment.

4. Follow the 90 degree rule - Your elbows and knees should be bent at 90 degrees for optimal comfort.

5. Take frequent breaks - Stand up, stretch, and move around every 30 - 60 minutes to prevent stiffness.
