I need to be honest. I cant just post things about how it affects everyone that has gone through this. I need to say what I feel and what I feel is pure anger. He's walking around all high and mighty like he's untouchable. Well, I fu***ng hate you. I hate that you did this to me and that you are fcking family. I want you to burn in fcking hell. You're digusting and vile and pure fckin evil. All these years acting like a mama's boy when the whole time you had this nasty little secret. Im sure they are up in heaven and know now what I couldn't say. You are going straight to Hell when you finally drop dead and I can't wait. Hopefully that will be sooner than later. Piece of s**t.

All abuse is wrong. But it can be especially disturbing and damaging when the person who has abused a child is someone who is trusted to protect and nurture the child who they go on to abuse.

Sexual abuse can cause deep and lasting harm to children. Not just to their emotional, physical and sexual development, but also to their trust in adults, especially if the person who abused them is someone they love; someone who should have protected them.

The impact of sexual abuse varies from child to child. The resilience and bravery of children in the face of abuse is remarkable; but for many the damage is enormous, with the impact affecting all aspects of their lives, for years if not a lifetime.

What protective adults need to know

Many children who are sexually abused don't tell anyone about it and many keep their secret all their lives. People who sexually abuse children are more likely to be people we know, and could well be people we care about; more than 8 out of 10 children who are sexually abused know the person who abused them. They are family members or friends, neighbors or babysitters - many hold responsible positions in society. The closer the relationship between the child and the person carrying out the abuse, the less likely the child is to talk about it.

Children often show us rather than tell us that something is worrying or upsetting them so being aware of the warning signs is vital. However, children may give vague hints that something is happening. Their information may not be clear and they may not have the words to explain what is happening to them. The way adults respond to this is vital to ensuring the child's safety.
