Hi friends + welcome new faces! heres a little about me + what I do at Luna 🌙

I'm Chelsea (She/Her). I am a 200hr certified trauma informed yoga and meditation teacher through the Anuttara School of Yoga. I have also completed Somatic Movement Training with SomaYoga Institute. I am also currently in schooling to be a licensed massage therapist + am looking forward to offering trauma informed massage to the community this summer. I am the sole owner of Luna Somatic Yoga + Wellness.

My passion is to help teach you tools to help soothe your nervous system. By utilizing a holistic and supportive mind-body approach, I encourage making a safe connection with the body to allow healing.

At Luna we practice interoception (sensing internal bodily signals) + somatic (body-centered) restorative + slow flow yoga, pranayama (breathwork) + meditation, and yoga nidra. I teach these valuable skills that allow students to continue practicing them in spaces they experience safety.

My trauma-informed classes are curated with the intention of holding space for others to allow them to deeply nourish and calm their mind, body and soul. The goal is to leave my classes feeling grounded, more relaxed and connected with your body. Luna is not a fast paced yoga practice, instead we aim for as much relaxation as possible.

I offer small group classes (maximum of 10 people) in Kalamazoo county, one-on-one Somatic Healing Sessions at Embody Healing Collective and online virtual classes. I provide all yoga accessories needed to attend classes with me including a mat, yoga blocks, a bolster and a blanket + my yoga classes are on a sliding scale to keep my offerings financially accessible to all.

I am committed to an inclusive, secure and supportive environment for individuals of all genders, body types and backgrounds.

Introducing c y c l e s: a nourishing somatic yoga series🌙

You are warmly invited to join me in this mind, body + soul nourishing somatic yoga series that teaches us how to honor the cycle of the lunar moon phases; utilizing what we learn from class to incorporate in our own monthly intentions. This special 4 part series is an offering that invites you to set aside time for you + allows space to focus on your journey towards your best aligned present + future self.

🌑 New Moon Slow Flow - a time to embrace new beginnings.- sunday 03.08 at 6pm

This new moon phase invites you to embrace new paths with an opportunity to cultivate future intentions that align with your fullest self + aspirations. We will be encouraged to slow down, turn inwards + connect with our intuition.

🌒 Waxing Crescent Gentle Yin - a time for fostering growth - sunday 04.12 at 6pm

This waxing crescent phase is an invitation for building the energy within to shift towards our goals. Here we will be encouraging inner growth + nurturing yourself + your dreams.

🌕 Full Moon Restorative - a time for honoring our progress - sunday 05.17 at 6pm

The full moon invites us to see the full potential of our becoming + engaging in self-reflection. This grounding, restorative flow balances the energetic nature of the full moon.

🌘 Waning Crescent Yoga Nidra - a time for surrender - sunday 06.xx (TBD)

This waning crescent phase is an invite for rest + healing. Surrendering to the natural need to rejuvenate our energy + honor our bodies wishes.

Expect times of meditation, breathwork, and journaling throughout each class in this series. You do not have to join all four classes to receive the benefits of each. Feel free to join in any that call to you.

All four classes will be held at BSD Dance Studio off S Westnedge in Portage. All yoga + journaling supplies needed to attend will be provided.

Spaces will be limited to 5 spots in each class + ongoing class registration will be offered to those who signed up for the previous class before being opened to the public to honor those who would like to attend the entire series.

we are ever-changing, ever-evolving beings who are deeply connected to our bodies wisdom. our thoughts and emotions are woven into each other, intertwined within our bodies' movement patterns + fascia.

as a small business owner during these current times I felt this post to my core.

this is the heart of being trauma-informed. understanding how global trauma impacts us all + some more than others

this is about politics, because being trauma-informed is political. But this isn't if your left or right leaning. This is empathy. This is standing up for basic human rights. This is stating "this is not okay" + doing something about it. and truly this hasn't been okay for a very long time.

Its okay to change your perspective on these issues. And its okay if you dont want to change. But just know, this is me. This is how ill run my business. How ill continue to show up in this community.

in the end I am a believer of what's meant for me will find me. those who align will appreciate me not looking away for the sake of keeping clients.

Ill keep speaking out. Ill keep speaking the truth. Ill keep fighting + standing up for those who need it most.

I am gently coming out of my holiday slow down that has allowed me to...

• rest my body + mind + nervous system

• reflect on my teachings, adjusting some aspects + removing what no longer aligns

• set goals for how i show up in this space + in the physical spaces of my classes

• focus on continuing to build on my trauma-informed knowledge

• letting go of expectations of how things "should be" and becoming more comfortable with what feels more authentic for me

• open to evolving + expanding personally + professionally
