As we have added to our Office Support Team, we thought it would be fun to find each other's "walk up music." These are the songs at conferences or sporting events that are played as someone approaches the spotlight. Sarah found THE ultimate music that perfectly captures the Visiting Angels spirit!🎶

Huge shoutout to our amazing angels! 🎉This is your walkup song!😇 Are you ready to play it loud and proud? (Warning, grab a tissue) https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1CFQgw99vH/

What would YOUR personal walk-up song be? 🤔🎼

Working in the office as support staff, things can be hectic and sometimes heavy. We deal with Angels calling off shifts, hiring/firing, Clients passing away and day to day stress. As a fun pick me up, we give away a kick a$$ award. Whoever receives it, chooses the next recipient. This week, our Chief Operating Angel, Ellen, got it.

Ellen is the center of our business. She is the backbone of day to day operations. She is our majority owner, making us women owned! She works countless hours for her first baby Visiting Angels of Southwest Michigan while also having three humans three and under at home, including identical twin girls who will be a year old in May.

Ellen, not only do you kick a$$ but you are a rock star! We love you and literally couldn't do what we love so much every day without you. You deserve this and so much more!

❓Did you know that approximately 80% of all healthcare decisions are made by women? Did you know that 85-87% of all home health workers are women? ❓

Visiting Angels of Southwest Michigan is women led and women owned. 95% of our Angels are women. So today, we honor and celebrate women for International Women's Day! Pictured here is our support team (minus a few very special additions who are part time, Amy, Toni and Staci).

How are you honoring the special women in your lives today?

Our hearts go out to the communities impacted by yesterday's tornadoes. Three Rivers is in our Visiting Angels of Southwest Michigan territory, we have clients, Angels and our Care Coordinator, Silvia, in the area. Our Business Development Manager, Sarah, is a volunteer with the Kalamazoo County Emergency Response Consortium. During the May 7, 2024 Portage tornado, she was the point person at Pavilion Trailer Park working closely with the amazing Renwick Ballew, Associate Director of Community Resiliency with United Way of South Central Michigan. Having been through a natural disaster that caused widespread devastation, the least we can do is offer a neighboring community our support.

To reiterate: PLEASE DO NOT COME TO THE AREA! If you want to help, check on anyone you know in the area. If they have damage, please encourage them to call 211 to report their damage. This is the emergency response data base. If you want to volunteer, register with the Michigan Volunteer Registry www.mivolunteerregistry.org or American Red Cross https://www.redcross.org/volunteer/become-a-volunteer

Today is National Fun Fact About Names Day! So lets learn some fun facts about our Support Staff's names:

Denny is often a nickname for Dennis, which comes from Dionysus, the Greek god of wine, celebration, and theater — so it’s basically a party-name.

Ellen is a form of Helen, which comes from Greek and means “bright, shining light.”

Leslie comes from a place name in Scotland — the original Clan Leslie has a castle (Leslie Castle) in Aberdeenshire that dates back to the 12th century. We always knew she was regal!

Sarah has been one of the most consistently used names in history — it has never really gone out of style and regularly ranks in top baby name lists across multiple countries.

The Rolling Stones’ 1973 hit song “Angie” helped boost the nickname’s popularity.

Andrea comes from the Greek word andreia, meaning “brave” or “strong.”

Silvia (or Sylvia) comes from Latin and means “from the forest.”

The name Savanna comes from the Spanish word sabana, meaning “treeless plain.”

Jennifer was one of the most popular girls’ names in the U.S. for decades, especially in the 1970s and 80s.

Amy comes from the French word aimée, meaning “beloved.”

Toni is often short for Antonia or Anthony, meaning “priceless” or “highly praiseworthy.”

Staci is a modern spelling variation of Stacy, which began as a nickname for Anastasia (meaning “resurrection”).

❓What is a fun fact about your name?

Happy National Caregivers Day, everyone! 🎉 Let's make some noise for the caregivers who constantly show up and shine in whatever role they are in - be it paid or unpaid, official or not so official. They deserve our recognition and applause! 👏Right now, we want to shine the spotlight on our fantastic "Caregiver of the Year", Staci!🥳

Staci embodies the true spirit of an Angel, exhibiting our core values: Be a connector, Live Responsibly, Heart for Caregiving, Honesty in everything, and Bring Value. She goes that extra mile without a second thought.

As our new Angel Development Professional, she is handling our unique "Earn Your Wings" program with the utmost brilliance. She's been instrumental in ensuring our trainees learn not only the essential skills, but also those invaluable soft skills. It's all about treating a person in their entirety; mind, body and soul. Now that's what we call Angel Care Beyond Compare!

We're super lucky and so proud to have a gem like Staci as part of our team. Your dedication lights up our organization, Staci!🌟

Happy celebrating, everyone! In the spirit of appreciation, why not share a a heartfelt shoutout to a caregiver you know? 😊

Yesterday we attended Southwest Michigan First State of Economic Development. It is all of the movers and shakers in our community packed into one room to get a massive download of information. Tough topics were discussed like inflation and recession. Controversial topics like AI and immigration were highlighted. But it was all brought home by Southwest Michigan First's Jonas Peterson and Western Michigan University President Russ Kavalhuna: it comes down to the people, loving where you live, promoting where you live, and convincing EVERYONE that Southwest Michigan is the best place to thrive!
