As temperatures rise, please remember that hot weather can be dangerous — and even deadly — for pets.
Never leave pets in parked vehicles, even for a few minutes. Temperatures inside a car can rise rapidly, leading to heatstroke or death.
Walk your dogs during the cooler parts of the day and avoid hot pavement. If the ground is too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws.
Provide access to fresh, clean, water and shade when pets are outdoors.
Watch for signs of heat exhaustion, including excessive panting, drooling, vomiting, weakness, or collapse. Seek veterinary care immediately if symptoms occur.
Keep in mind that senior pets, overweight pets, and animals with medical conditions are especially vulnerable to heat-related illness.
