A little Harley photo dump.
He’s a bit of strange little guy, he’s very squeaky, he rarely ever barks, he is in love with humans, suspicious of dogs, has a primal hankering to chase squirrels and any other nature creature (& may have broken out to do just that 3-5 times 😬), would cuddle for 24 hour straight if given the chance, and swirls himself into the perfect cinnamon bun form as his preferred posture.
He’s brought an overflow of love and joy into the home that Amy and I have spent months giving our love to (it needed a lot) and has helped recalibrate some unbalance in our lives.
He was attacked by other dogs in his previous homes, probably for being super goofy and wanting to invade personal space, and he bounced around a couple of foster homes until he found a longer term stay.
He rarely, if ever, got to go spend the type of time we like to spend on nature. His system was so overwhelmed by every sound, sensation, smell, and sight. He would shake uncontrollably from all of the “feels”. You can’t give a creature the same type of tools for self-regulation, nervous system healing, and inner balance that we can give a human, but it seems the best thing we’ve been able to do apart from revamping his diet, giving him more & more nature time, lots of walks, and training, is to give him our own sturdy nervous systems to lean into on the daily.
He was the only dog I matched with when I felt the call to look on let finder, and so it was meant to be.
Fun times with this one. One day he’ll be living on a nice big piece of land and can chase whatever he wants.
