„Refills in plastic containers?😱Isn’t that beside the point?“ This is an actual comment from a new refiller. TBH this interaction was doomed from the start. Looooong story and needless to say I don’t think they were convinced anyway. Look you can’t win ‘em all. Believing in perfectly imperfect low waste can also mean not resonating with certain people. Luckily PDX has other options for refilling so everyone can take action in how they feel most comfortable. We’re all in this together 😊.

There may be no shop hours but Null is still very much around.

OG ordering is still available with delivery and pick up options. Add refills to your cart in 32 oz units and get them in reclaimed glass jars that are swapped out at your next refill

You might have already noticed that there is nothing zero about it.

So let’s just put that out there and do the best we can.

If you’re curious about trying something low waste, I bet we can find something at Null that fits your lifestyle and budget.

Even choosing just one home cleaning or body care product to swap or refill WILL reduce your waste and WILL reduce what gets put in the landfill.

It’s a common misconception…that a refill store is a bulk store.

It’s partially true

I DO buy in bulk- to significantly reduce packaging and keep costs comparable

YOU do buy at a refill shop to avoid buying single use packaging on heavy rotation cleaning and body products AND pay similar prices to other stores.

sooooo how do I compare to Costco…uh

I just don’t but I’m here for you

Double tap if you want to throw less packaging away and pay pretty much the same as single use packaged products😘😘

Kinda like micro plastics…they’re everywhere

Buuut in a good way. Micro influencers that is.

Oh not the ones found on IG
The ones found in your own community, changing their routines, adopting eco friendly practices, and hoping to change the world through personal action

Annnnd like micro plastics they can be a bit pesky dare I say even sneak up on you-and slowly build up and gather in places you least expect it

Like in your brain- or your kids telling you to compost that, or you becoming curious about shampoo bars.

And my favorite-your teenager just consuming up a storm-with tons of packaging (that’s kinda opposite of a micro influencer, but still invades your thoughts)

Who are the micro influencers in your life? It could even be you.

I really want to know!

After two and a half generous years in the back of Dava Bead and Trade, Amber is needing to have her classroom back. Sadly I will be losing my little space. I cannot thank her enough for the support and risk free space for me to learn, grow, and dream. Null Refillery is at a natural pivot point. Do you waste soap?

It’s just so easy to push that pump down ALLLL the way down-it’s almost impossible not to

Or what’s with the squeeze tops? Gravity’s a 🤬

Enter bar dish 🧼, you really can’t use too much and it does just beg for a dish brush or sponge to be rubbed on top of it.

So if you tend to be a little heavy handed 🙋🏼‍♀️

Bar dish soap might just be your solution.

Aaand it’s market goer approved😉

Here are a few tips on how to start refilling

Choose one product you use everyday and replenish often

Keep the last empty container of that product or any container you already have for refilling 🫙🧴

Try refilling it at least 5 times to help build the habit💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

There are three types of eco friendly travelers

The lucky you even got out the door one -you are running around last minute making sure you have someone to water you plants and feed the cat. You always forget something, which you realize a day later (need to buy chapstick adding to your collection of already the 12 you left at home )

The prepared but chill one-you packed a few frequently used items so they can be reused and just accepted that there will be some single use plastic that will be consumed ( Dr Pepper from the fountain with crushed ice…anyone?)

The never leave your principles behind one -you have accounted for every situation and have reusable items for each. You seek out bottle returns, and recycling options. And most likely there is a bag of compostable trash that is underneath your feet and is making your car smell a little 😳
