Sally J Van Meter, MA LPC, LLC Licensed Professional Counselor in Private Practice

10/19/2023

Welcome to my Private Practice for Mental Health Psychotherapy for individual Adults ages 18 and up. I am accepting new clients via Simple Practice and will see most clients using tele-therapy through the Simple Practice HIPPAA compliant platform. Face to Face visits are by pre arranged consultation and evaluation. I accept auto credit card payments on the Simple Practice platform and will generate a Superbill for you. You can then submit your Super Bill receipt to your insurance company for reimbursement for an out of network mental health provider. At this time I am not accepting insurance.

My education background includes a Bachelors Degree in Studio Art and Design, and a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology, having also met all of the American Art Therapy Association requirements for a Masters Degree in Art Therapy. Additionally I complete a minimum of 20 Continuing Education Hours annually to maintain my Licensure.

I believe that those individuals seeking assistance in change, healing, skills and knowledge are capable of achieving this with motivation, guidance and counsel within the scope of their capacity and resources. I believe we are of mind and body connect with a spiritual Self led core that is born intact and remains intact despite parts of us that experience trauma. Ultimately, the Self does the healing and the work, not the therapist.

I've been practicing for 35+ years as an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) in Oregon. I have worked in hospital inpatient and outpatient settings with adolescents, adults, couples and families, large HMOs and PPOs. I have many years experience as an educator, manager and clinical supervisor in all of those settings.

Please do not hesitate to reach out or send a referral my way for another adult in need of support and change. I most recently completed the IFS (Internal Family Systems) Circle and as such, am now “IFS Informed” and am currently enrolled in the Continuity Program and am ultimately seeking IFS Certification in Levels 1-3.

I have specialties in trauma informed therapy, feminist therapy, culturally sensitive, LBGQT+, mindfulness and expressive art therapy, experiential and psychodynamic modalities, cognitive behavioral therapy, addiction medicine, client centered and strength based as well as solution focused modalities.

In my free time, I’m a water colorist, gardener, cook, and enjoy walks, bike rides, hanging with friends, have been known in my past to have played alto sax and acoustic guitar! I also studied Dutch for about 9 months and have switched over to a daily sentence or two of French. I’m a sometime writer and have published articles about bike riding after not riding for decades, ideas about transportation and poetry about AIDS. In another past life I had my own small one of a kind clothing design company and also designed and sold one of a kind furniture and picture frames.
