I finally watched The Substance, and as an aesthetics practitioner, it hit me hard. This film speaks to so many aspects of my work—and my experience as a woman in this world.

A big part of my job is handing clients a mirror. I see you observe yourself, notice what you don’t like, and I know that feeling too. We’ve been conditioned to have this self-critical gaze. The Substance lays bare this reality and our collective pursuit of transformation.

Aging brings wisdom, confidence, and strength—but society pressures us to resist it. The chase for youth can become an addiction, blurring the line between self-care and self-worth. Watching Demi Moore’s transformation in the film made me reflect deeply on the ethics of aesthetics: Where is the line between empowerment and obsession? Between choice and conditioning?

I don’t have all the answers, but I believe awareness is key. If we stay conscious of these forces, we take a step toward self-acceptance—even if loving ourselves is a lifelong journey.

I like this before and after because it’s representative of realistic outcomes. Our goal was to address some mild sagging at the jawline and contour the chin area to give a more youthful appearance. We used three syringes to the chin and jawline area to include juvederm vollure and juvederm Volux. A couple of weeks later we used a total of 86 units of Botox to the upper and lower face. We did a Nefertiti neck lift for the lower face with Botox which helped support the jawline goals.

Results are subtle but we can appreciate how her goals were met through all the angles of the photos. The filler treatments gave us results and the Botox enhanced the results further.

From deep volume loss to surface irregularities, we can work together to gradually and naturally move in the direction of your goals. My experience has taught me the results are subtle and most impactful when we treat from a multifaceted approach. After training with , I have made some small changes to how I inject the lower face. 2 week follow ups are coming in to compare pics and these results are the best I have seen under my needle! With the right dosing to the platysma, we get a lifting appearance and tightening along the jawline. The results have been consistently remarkable. ❤️
