InterMed is a physician-owned and physician-run medical group founded on the goals of patient-centered primary care that is enhanced by integrated specialty services. Founded in 1993, InterMed serves 75,000 primary care patients in the community through our practice sites in Portland, South Portland, and Yarmouth. Specialty and ancillary services supports patient care with laboratory testing, radiology, diagnostic imaging, as well as therapeutic services, such as physical therapy. Specialty physician services include Anti-Coagulation, Audiology, Cardiology, Dermatology, Ear Nose & Throat, OB/GYN, and Sports Medicine. Our Marginal Way location boast two state-of-the-art surgical rooms, where we offer procedures for our Gynecologic, Otolaryngology (Ears, Nose, and Throat), Orthopedics, Podiatry, and Urology patients. InterMed also provides on-site medical care and physical therapy services at IDEXX and L.L.Bean.

Leadership Updates at InterMed

We are excited to share several recent leadership appointments within our medical staff.

Please join us in congratulating Kasey Little, MD, who recently began her role as Medical Director of Clinical Systems and Sadie Carter, MD, who is now serving as Medical Director of Urgent Care.

We are also pleased to announce that Jim Dunlop, JD, MD was reappointed Medical Director for Dermatology and Mohs Surgery.

At InterMed, it is our policy that all physician leaders still work as active clinicians, seeing patients multiple days per week. It is important to us that our leaders prioritize patient care and keep it at the center of all we do. We are grateful for the leadership, dedication, and expertise each of these physicians brings to their teams and our patients.

Meet David Salko, MD!

Dr. Salko is joining InterMed’s Family Medicine team in Yarmouth, bringing over 20 years of experience caring for patients and families in Maine.

He entered medicine, as he puts it, “with the hope of helping others,” inspired by watching his father practice medicine with commitment and generosity. Over the years, he has found that caring for patients and building lasting relationships has been deeply rewarding, creating meaning for both his patients and himself.

Dr. Salko is excited to continue his work at InterMed, a group he describes as “committed to providing excellent care of patients.” He believes medicine is a collaborative journey rooted in listening, understanding, and working together to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Outside of work, Dr. Salko enjoys “the awe in the everyday,” whether that’s a good cup of coffee, cycling Maine’s scenic roads, art, pancakes, or cheering at a hockey game with family and friends.

Just some of the highlights from 2025: We stayed busy with spin classes, Pilates, the Dempsey Challenge, and so much more. The coffee and ice cream truck weeks were the perfect excuse to slow down and catch up with friends and colleagues. We’re looking forward to even more memories in 2026!
