☯ Scientists have achieved a remarkable feat by capturing an image of two entangled light particles - and they naturally formed a yin-yang pattern in pink and green! Using a super-fast camera and a new technique called biphoton digital holography, researchers at the University of Ottawa photographed two entangled light particles in real time. The fact that these quantum-connected photons appear in the shape of the ancient yin-yang symbol - traditionally representing interconnected opposites - adds a fascinating layer to this breakthrough, which could help advance quantum computing technology.

On February 28, 2001, a 6.8-magnitude earthquake, known as the Nisqually earthquake, rocked Olympia, Washington, causing widespread disruption but minimal casualties. Amid the chaos, Jason Ward, owner of a novelty shop called Danger Room in downtown Olympia, discovered an extraordinary phenomenon. A sand-tracing pendulum in his store, typically used to create intricate patterns in sand with its gentle swings, had recorded the earthquake’s vibrations in real time. As the ground shook, the pendulum’s movements became erratic, etching chaotic, jagged patterns into the sand that vividly captured the seismic waves. This accidental artwork, later dubbed a “natural seismograph,” provided a unique visual record of the quake’s intensity and motion, fascinating locals and scientists alike. The preserved sand art became a local sensation, symbolizing nature’s raw power and the unexpected beauty found in disaster.
