Do you perform frenectomy before or after diastema closure? The main advantages of doing frenectomy before space closure is better access. With scalpel incision down to bone and complete removal of all fibrous tissue, there is minimal scarring that will interfere with diastema closure. More sutures generally results in more scarring.
