Both things can be true. That’s the beauty of DBT—learning to hold space for opposite truths without shame.

Sometimes the hardest thing to do is stop fighting reality.

👉 Radical acceptance does not mean you approve of what happened.
👉 It means you acknowledge: “This is where I am right now.”
👉 By releasing the struggle against what is, you free up energy to cope, heal, and move forward.

It’s choosing peace over resistance.
It’s giving yourself permission to stop the fight you can’t win.
And it’s one of the most powerful ways to reduce suffering in tough moments.

1️⃣ Is this thought 100% true?
2️⃣ What evidence supports or contradicts it?
3️⃣ What would I say to a friend with this thought?

💡 Sometimes the best way to loosen anxiety’s grip is to pause + get curious about what your mind is feeding you.

When emotions spike, your nervous system needs a reset. DBT’s TIPP skills are quick, powerful ways to calm down fast:

🧊 Temperature: Use ice, cold water, or a cool pack to trigger your body’s relaxation response.
🏃 Intense Exercise: A few minutes of movement burns off that extra adrenaline.
🌬️ Paced Breathing: Inhale 4 counts, exhale 6 counts. Slow and steady.
💆 Paired Muscle Relaxation: Tense + release your muscles, head to toe.

Your brain is sneaky sometimes—it likes to present opinions as facts.
But here’s the truth: thoughts are not facts.

👀 Notice when distortions show up:
⚫ All-or-Nothing: “If I’m not perfect, I’m a failure.”
⚫ Mind-Reading: “They must be mad at me.”
⚫ Catastrophizing: “This is going to be a disaster.”

💡 Try this reframe: “What’s another way to look at this?”

Your mind might whisper lies, but you don’t have to believe every single one.
