When small changes make a big difference. 💙

In this week’s Understanding Senior Living blog, we share a real clinical case study from Morning Pointe Senior Living that highlights the impact of medication oversight, coordinated provider communication, and a structured daily routine. Over the course of one month, a resident progressed from walking just 10–15 feet with assistance to independently heading to meals with a walker — along with improved sleep and cognitive clarity. 🚶‍♂️

It’s a practical look at how assisted living can play a meaningful clinical role when the right pieces come together.

These outcomes aren’t theoretical. They’re based on real experiences, with all identifying details withheld to remain HIPAA-compliant.

Meet Sue. 👋

One of our amazing cooks here in Powell, Sue, brings heart to the kitchen every single day. She’s the youngest of four siblings with three older brothers, and she’s been with her spouse, Brian, for almost seven years. Family means a lot to her, and she works hard to make her dad proud in everything she does.

Sue loves making people happy and truly believes in healing through food. Whether she’s trying a new recipe for residents or preparing a favorite comfort dish, she pours intention into it. 🍽️

Outside of work, you’ll find her reading, crafting, cooking, playing games, visiting the zoo, and sharing her impressive knowledge of animal facts.

One of her favorite parts of the job is creating new dishes for residents and working alongside a team she genuinely cares about. She says the best feeling is knowing what she does makes a difference.

We are so grateful to have Sue as part of our team. If you haven’t met her yet, be sure to introduce yourself and ask her for a fun animal fact. 🐾

This week, Regionals and Community Relations Directors from across Morning Pointe Senior Living came together in one room, united by purpose and passion for the work we do.

We spent time focusing on serving seniors and their families, how to best meet them where they are in the aging journey, and how to connect with local communities and partners across our footprint to help them understand the true value of senior living. 🤝

When we are aligned, informed, and intentional, families feel it. That consistency across every campus makes a difference.

Grateful for a team that is always willing to learn, collaborate, and sharpen how we serve. ❤️

Meet Jewel, the heart behind our choir each week. 🎹

Every Monday, she volunteers her time to play piano for our residents, helping them find the right notes and stay in tune. Her talent, patience, and love for music make such a difference, and you can see it in every smile around the room. 🤍

We are so grateful for Jewel and the joy she brings to our Powell community.

If you would like to share your time and talents, we would love to welcome you.

We love our Powell team. 💙

Our campus recently came together for a team meeting and Grassroots Business Training, and it was more than just checking boxes. We brainstormed, shared a great meal, caught up with one another, and had honest conversations about how we can be even more connected to the Powell community.

One of the biggest takeaways was this: when we stay involved locally, it doesn’t just strengthen partnerships. It gives purpose. Not only for us as associates, but for our residents too, as they find meaningful ways to stay engaged and give back.

Strong teams build strong communities, and we are proud of the heart behind our Powell campus. 💛

We made a sweet stop in Hershey, Pennsylvania — without ever leaving Powell. 🍫🤎

Our Morning Pointe in Motion adventure started with homemade hot chocolate and chocolate-covered strawberries from our kitchen team. We watched how HERSHEY'S chocolate is made, sampled some of the most popular flavors — York Peppermint Patties, Almond Joy & Mounds, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, KitKat, and the classic Hershey bar — and wrapped it all up with some fun trivia.

Did you know the Reese’s Cup was originally called the “Penny Cup” and only cost 1¢? 🍬

It was a delicious, chocolate-filled day full of smiles and sweet memories.

Paying for senior care is one of the biggest questions people face — and it’s exactly what we’ll be discussing at our upcoming Morning Pointe Foundation Caregiver Café events.

This week’s Understanding Senior Living blog from Morning Pointe Senior Living breaks it down in plain language: what Medicare really covers (and what it doesn’t), how Medicaid and VA benefits work, and the private-pay tools often combined to build a realistic plan.

If you’ve ever wondered, “How are we actually going to pay for this?” — this guide is a helpful place to start before joining the conversation in person.

📖 Read the full blog here: https://ow.ly/4STf50YetNV

We’d also love to see you at a Morning Pointe Foundation Caregiver Café, where you can ask questions, hear from local experts, and leave feeling more prepared for what’s ahead. Learn more about our upcoming events here: https://morningpointe.com/caregiver-cafe/

Shannon brought her best to the table in Powell. 👩‍🍳

Our Food Service Director and her team prepared three dishes for residents and families to taste — her award-winning chili, beef stew, and spinach artichoke chicken. Everyone cast their vote to decide which recipe will represent Powell in the Morning Pointe Top Chef Challenge, a friendly competition between our Food Service Directors.

The chili took the win. 🏆

Next up is Round 2: Regional Selection — a live public cook-off celebrating the creativity, skill, and heart behind our culinary teams. Four of our top Food Service Directors in the region will compete for a spot in the 2026 Morning Pointe Senior Living Top Chef Challenge finals.

It was a full house, full plates, and a really fun night together.

Sometimes the simplest gestures leave the biggest impact. 💌
This month, we’re celebrating National Letter to an Elder Day by encouraging moments of connection across generations. A handwritten note, a simple message, or a shared memory can mean more than you know—and it’s a beautiful way to remind our residents they’re seen, valued, and remembered.

If you or your group would like to get involved, reach out to your local Life Enrichment or Lantern Program Director to learn how to participate and help spread a little joy through words. ✨
