If you know me, you know I'm all about big emotions and learning how to handle them. The fancy word for big emotions is dysregulation. Here's a short clip that Telehealth ROCKS animated from a recent professional development workshop: "Everyday Mindfulness to Manage Stress and Grow Your Calm."

Bottom Line:
When children experience dysregulation, i.e., difficulty managing overwhelming feelings, they need a steady, calm presence that helps children find their way back to feeling grounded.

That's co-regulation, one of the most powerful tools in a caregiver's proverbial backpack. It's not about having perfect words or solutions. It's about staying regulated ourselves so kids can borrow our calm when theirs feels out of reach.

What strategies do you use to stay calm when the kids in your life are struggling?

Excited to share that I wrote a blog for the Anxiety and Depression Association of America - ADAA about back-to-school anxiety! 📚

That mix of excitement and nervousness your kiddo is feeling?
Totally normal.

Here are my top tips from the article:
🎯 Listen and validate instead of dismissing their worries
🎯 Reduce unknowns by sharing what you can about their new school year
🎯 Stay calm yourself - they need your steady presence, not your matching anxiety
🎯 Build realistic confidence - not "everything will be perfect" but "you can handle whatever comes up"

Your calm, steady presence is the best back-to-school supply of all. ✨

Check out the full article on the ADAA blog (link in comments) for more detailed strategies!

People don't talk about the emotional aspects of having ADHD enough. Me, I love talking about how kids with ADHD are often more susceptible to meltdowns and power struggles, and of course, what to do about it. Honestly, what if you could prevent most meltdowns before they even start?

Save the DATE: Tuesday, October 14 at 6:30 PM CST ONLINE

I'll share how to get ahead of the chaos with practical, science-backed strategies instead of constantly reacting to it.

Excited to partner with Adhdkc and do what I love - supporting parents to find more calm in the chaos while building connection and resilience.

You can attend whether you're a member of ADHDKC or not. However, if you or your kids have ADHD, I highly recommend joining. It is hands-down one of the best support organizations out there - right in the heart of KC.

FREE to attend, but RSVP using the link.

Do you ever feel like your mind is working against you? You're not wrong, and it's not intentional. It's automatic! 🤯

But here's the good news - there's SO much you can do to increase your awareness of how your mind thinks and retrain it to work better for you.

Just listened to this amazing conversation on Foorum Insider with the dynamic duo of Dr. Ashley Smith and Ebrima "Abraham" Sisay (seriously, these two are incredible together!). They break down exactly how to spot those sneaky mental patterns and rewire your brain.

Trust me, it's worth your time and will literally change the way you think.

What's one mental habit you'd love to rewire?

I thoroughly enjoyed a meaningful conversation with Ebrima Abraham Sisay on Foorum Insider about parenting in today's world ✨

Here's what I want every parent to know:

You are inherently imperfect and constantly evolving—and that's the beauty of life.

Neither you nor your kids have to get it all right. You just keep showing up and adjust when needed.
That's how resilience is built

A parent's real superpower? Presence over perfection

Check out the podcast and let me know what resonated the most with you?

What's the most important lesson you've learned so far on your parenting journey?
