Harley Quinn was born on Dec 26, 2012 just 51 min after Christmas at 8lbs and 1oz. She was perfect in every way and other than a few small issues, it had been an easy pregnancy. Flash forward to 6 months later. We started to realize that she was falling behind in her development including not sitting or even showing a slight ability to crawl. She still couldn't hold her bottle on her own and you had to always hold her with 2 arms as she was not steady and would fall backward when carrying her. So at her next chekup, we mentioned our concerns with her doctor. She agreed there was something going on and after an evaluation with Early Steps, we began in home therapy. But Harley still needed more and we were eventually referred to a neurologist. After her initial visit, a MRI was ordered and she was diagnosed with a developmental delay and Hemiparesis to her left side. A few weeks later, she had her MRI that thankfully was clear and began to visit neurotherapy weekly for physical therapy. Speech therapy was added after continued attempts to feed her anything other than baby food would cause her to choke. Just recently, we noticed she seemed to be "zoning out" and staring off into nothing. After not being able to get her to respond, we realized she had a seizure. Just this week, she had an EEG and was diagnosed with a partial seizure disporder generating from the left frontal lobe of the brain. So now we have created this page as a form of stress relief, sharing information with friends and family, general education in the journey to have a child diagnosed with any disorder, and even just a little fun. We are not asking for donations of any kind and do not have anything set up for funds. We just want to share our story. So enjoy as Harley becomes a haero and BatBear becomes her sidekick and together they fight the forces inside her body so she can always be our happy little jester.
