March is Brain Injury Awareness Month. 🧠💚

Did you know? Someone in the U.S. suffers a brain injury every 9 seconds, often referred to as an "invisible epidemic.” This can cause lasting cognitive, physical, and social challenges.

Here is how each of our disciplines can serve individuals with brain injuries:

- Speech therapy: cognitive-communication, speech, language, and swallowing disorders

- Physical therapy: restore movement, strength, balance, and coordination

- Occupational therapy: address cognitive, physical, and emotional challenges through tasks that promote independence and overall quality of life

February 7th was National Wear Red day in support of congenital heart defect awareness week. Nearly 1 in 100 babies are affected by CHD, making it the most common birth defect in the country!

Today we wear red in support of our sweet Warren! Warren was born with a heart defect causing him multiple open heart surgeries, long hospital stays, & a few set backs developmentally. He sees all three services at TBC to promote his function, communication, and overall independence. Warren is small, but mighty (& extremely silly). We are so proud of how hard he works! ❤️🫀

Reminder! Flu, RSV, and strep are at an all time high and circulating through our communities. We love to maintain a happy and healthy environment for all of our friends. When considering if you should keep your appointment today, please consider our medically complex friends who are at a higher risk than some kiddos. If you need to cancel due to sickness, just give us a call.

Over Christmas we said “see you later” to a wonderful student & speech therapist! Caroline spent a semester with TBC & while we miss her so much, we are so proud of her hard work!!

When asking Caroline her favorite things about The Bailey Center she said:

“Having the opportunity to intern at The Bailey Center is something I am deeply grateful for. I truly appreciate the opportunities I have had to grow and strengthen my clinical skills in such a supportive environment. I cannot express enough how thankful I am for the many professionals who have guided me, shared their expertise, and genuinely become friends along the way. The Bailey Center is filled with knowledgeable, compassionate individuals, and I feel honored to have learned from each one of them.

I am also incredibly thankful for the patients and families I had the privilege to work with. They welcomed me with kindness and made me feel like part of their community. Each interaction reaffirmed why I love this field, and I will carry those connections and experiences with me throughout my career.

I am truly grateful for everyone at The Bailey Center and for the meaningful impact this experience has had on both my personal and professional growth. 🩷”
