Rocky Top gave out the first ever Coach Joe Sanford award today - to our very own Coach Pat Parise!!! This award was carved by a Gatlinburg local who also is a Marine (like Joe).

Coach Joe took teams to the Thanksgiving Bowl for years and exemplified every standard the tournament believes in. Hard work, teamwork and dedication on and off the field is something Joe and Pat believe in and both serve as mentors and role models to their players.

This award is well deserved and HYC is honored to have such amazing coaches representing us. Congrats Coach Pat and Coach Joe’s legacy lives on.

Our family just received this from someone in Gatlinburg at the tournament this weekend. The way everyone has honored my dad is so heartwarming 🥺

It was a “bittersweet” moment today to walk up and finally see my dad’s headstone placed. I love you so much dad🤍

Family & Friends,

It is with the absolute heaviest heart and biggest weight on my chest that I have to say that my dad passed away on Tuesday, August 27th. Myself, grandmother, and aunt were by his side as he left this world as peacefully as he could. I am in complete shock and have no words at this time. I would like to thank everyone for the prayers, support, encouragement, kind words, kind hearts, and donations to our family throughout the last 3 1/2 months. We will post arrangements once they’ve been made. Thank you all.

Update to say that the next 3-5 days are CRITICAL 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Update: Dad is back in the ICU. Lots has happened today that I’m not ready to go into detail about. However, I will share that the next 24-48 hours are critical. Please pray long & hard for his healing 🙏🏼❤️‍🩹

This pic is from my birthday last year. What I wouldn’t have given to have these same smiles on our face’s today. But today wasn’t about celebrating my life, it was about celebrating everyday I continue to be given with him right now. I love you dad. 😓❤️

Small update: As of last night, my dad has been moved out of ICU & back to the Oncology unit at UMMC! He started treatment last week and will continue the second dose next week. He’s been mostly sleepy the past few days, which is great because his body needs all the rest he can get!

He is still testing positive for Covid at this time but has been asymptomatic for about a week now. There are still some questions and things we are unsure about but we are seeing small changes and that’s good enough for me!

He seems a little down and just wants to be home with his family & his “boy”, Rocco 🐶 So if you’re able to, please send him cards so he can see and feel all the love I know we all have for him.

❤️‍🩹Healing Cards for Joe❤️‍🩹

We would like to invite you all to send cards to my dad for him to read. Throughout his treatment, he will be in the hospital for most of it and will need to be mostly isolated, except for immediate family, due to high chances of infection. We know how much he will be missing everyone, especially with the football season beginning. We hope that you all can send cards with words of encouragement, healing, and support to provide him comfort & love.
